I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

The Gospel According to Uncle Ralph: Chapter 14, Verse 1-19

And on this basis world views are founded...go fucking figure...

"God is always by your side"...

And I don't want to have anything to do with a god that would allow these children to die.

What a soothing lie to tell a child...
But Christians spew insane bullshit all the time...

A few Ones of my very own about you know who...

Let's take it one step farther....many churches will have "traditional" worship at 9am (hymns with piano, maybe no music at all) and then "contemporary" worship at 1030 (more rock-based praise songs with catchy tunes, bands, guitar solos, etc.). So basically the question becomes "how do YOU prefer to worship the creator of the universe?" rather than thinking of how the creator would prefer us to worship. I know some people who go to certain churches mainly because they like the worship service i.e. the band. I just find it amusing that people go to a place to worship the creator of the universe, but get picky about songs, music style, the band, etc. so the focus then becomes on themselves. At the end of the day, it's all about what makes you feel good, which...if you are truly a Christian...misses the point, right? I mean, could you see a 60 year old southern baptist white lady in an AME church on Sunday if that was her only choice? No....because she would be uncomfortable with the music. She would rather miss worshipping her creator of the universe rather than feel awkward with the worship style.

Some denominations have NO music (because Paul didn't mention it's use in the New Testament...only raising up our voices) whereas others have elaborate choirs, orchestras, rock bands etc. my theory is that the "rules are changed" or interpreted to suit the preferences at the time and also to attract potential new members...which you know what that leads to....$$$$.
