A collection of things that make me sad.

War, of course.

And what were the results of those millions of deaths and shattered lives?

Making Germany so desperate that they wanted ANOTHER war.
That's a very powerful WWI monument capturing the realism.

STUPIDITY

Trophy hunters sadden me. And the making of fake drugs out of things like rhino horns is a sin against Mother Earth.
And surely shark fin soup can't be that good!

This should be addressed constantly.

There is no limit to the shame and ridicule those people deserve. Do you realize that they are putting the WHOLE FUCKING SPECIES AT RISK?!!!

This reminds me of a movie I saw where a phone sex worker talked to a man on the phone while she ironed clothes and disciplined her children.

There are so very many men who want sex more than almost anything. But if my calculations are correct, there are just as many women craving the same. One would think these people could find one another. I think their standards are impossibly high.

Please take that to heart. I've been preaching it for years. We are Americans and we don't hate one another.

There are people willing to throw young men and women in jail so they don't "harm" themselves with marijuana. These people are seriously ill-advised. And what could possibly be worse than a permanent prison record?

It saddens me that modern young people seem to play follow the leader with much more abandon than other generations.

The richest nation on Earth can't solve the homeless problem.

Of course, we could if we set our minds to it.

REAL CLINICAL DEPRESSION

There are so many lonely people.

People sell themselves to easy that loneliness in others, mostly men.

That's depressing for all concerned.

Oh, I dare not offer stupid advice...

I know it's not that easy.

But don't set yourself up for failure.

I talk a good game sometimes, but if I were to lose my wife I would totally my shit.

I am old enough to understand how a spouse dies only weeks or months after losing their mate.

But suicide is never the answer.

You are loved and those people will suffer greatly.

But in my opinion, they have not thought through their options. Hell, maybe they would like to work on a cattle ranch in Montana or roll cigars in Cuba. You never know.

Lowering your expectations for life helps. I am not lying when I say that I have never met anyone happier than me, but I give a lot of myself. I love to make people laugh and I teach every chance I get. I'm the guy who loans money, loans the truck, and am a very good listener.
But enough about me. There is an old saying that goes "Happiness is not getting what you like, but liking what you get." I totally agree.

REAL LIFE

I think that many people refuse to think about this being the only life you have and that you have to use every day to its fullest.

And for goodness sake come to grips with your own mortality. It won't go away by ignoring it.

CHRISTMAS

Let’s face it, we all know that Christmas is a big commercial racket. It’s run by a big eastern syndicate, you know.

I feel good around the holiday, mostly for the excitement in the children.

It's founded on a surreal fairytale.

I think religion only reinforces the idea of us and them.

You living in eternal bliss while almost all your friends and family are swimming in lava or some such shit is just sick.

Who would want to live like that?

One other thing I like about Christmas...

It marks cooler weather here in the furnace that is the American South.

I didn't marry until my thirties because I wanted to sow some wild oats. In hindsight, I wish I'd spent some of that time having sex with women instead.

Seriously considering commissioning a family portrait photo and getting the photographer to photoshop all our faces slightly too small. Enough to be disconcerting, but not enough for guests to feel comfortable mentioning it.
