About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS

Fashion is fickle.

Young people are searching for "their" look, so is not in any way included in this editorial. I don't remember where, but I read this someplace: "They were men, but men dressed in the costumes of children." These grown men are the topic of this editorial.
^^1^^

White people often express dismay over fashion decisions made by black men.

The low-rider pants caused many towns to pass laws prohibiting them. The caps on backward was openly laughed at when first introduced, but is now widely accepted at every stratum of society. There are more examples but those suffice to illustrate how intolerant white people are.
Why do we whites demand that everyone dress alike? During the age of hippies, we dressed almost identically to one another. You would think free thinkers would embrace a wide variety in fashion, but no we didn't.
I wrote a novella that included an older white woman discussing fashion with a young black man. When asked why he wore his hat backward, or why his pants were so low, etc, the young man asked her why she even cared what he wore. He further stated that he had never given a wit of thought to what white people wore.
Why people even care about how strangers dress is still a mystery to me.

^^3^^

I have decided to post every single reference to this problem that I stumble upon.

I liked the idea of the doctors who refuse to allow unvaccinated children into his office for fear of infecting other children. I wish that would become the norm.
Violence may prove productive also.

LIES MOTHERS TELL

 ^^8^^

My mother actually told me that I was born a girl then turned into a boy a couple of years later.
^^9^^

But, by far, the biggest lie went something like this.
I was about 14 years old when god went the way of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

Other societies are not immune to stupidity.

Its called Nikah mut'ah.

Just listed my wife as my emergency contact and added the note “please text, she doesn’t answer calls.”

I sure hope there are teams of scientists studying how animals can detect earthquakes prior to the shaking.

Then he did a math thing...
And came up with this...

I like to imagine the man who invented the umbrella was going to call it a 'brella' but he hesitated.

In middle school, I along with everyone else took a personality test in which they asked if I hunted or fished. I answered yes.  Then later in the test, it asked if I harm animals for fun. Well, fishing is fun and fishing harms the animal, so I answered yes.
The results came back that I lacked empathy and my mother freaked out.

SELDOM SEEN SIGHTS

The back of the wheel on The Price is Right.

Probably a repost but it still made me smile.

Anybody want to take a wild guess in explaining that?

How the hell was this stuff ever a toy?
And we used to chew that toxic shit!

When I complained about my wife taking up too much of the bed she calmly whispered, "When you are used to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

THOUGHTS ON THE INTERNET

Did you get that? The blue and white flag is Argentina.

To be fair, the device contains both the totality of human knowledge and the totality of human stupidity and it doesn't label them.
^^28^^

I think we all have that on our phones now. I had a guy show me on his phone exactly where his wife was at that moment...she was driving home.
^^29^^

The is an ending to a movie that the internet HATES. I don't know why, so I guess I'll have to watch the movie.

PEOPLE WHO HAVE EARNED THEIR FAKE INTERNET POINTS

I could have put that in today's fashion section, but I purposely left women out of it because, frankly, they all do the dumbest shit imaginable when it comes to taking orders from Madison Avenue.

How very clever.
