About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

I would like to thank all of you who send me material. I don't reply to every one of them and for this I am remiss. Know that I appreciate it.

When I was growing up the Internet was in black-and-white and only on for three hours a day. We used to get dressed up in our Sunday best to log in.

I pronounce LGBT "eljibbity" just because I fucking can.

OBJECTS OF INTEREST

That seems to roll remarkably easily.

^^B1^^

So, I'm assuming you have to find a tree with just the right dimensions?

^^B2^^

Did you notice that one hand never goes through the obstacle?

"But how do we get it back to Florida?"

"I have an idea..."

- young engineer probably

^^B6^^

What must that camel think of that experience?

Bats headed out to eat bugs from downtown Austin.

"An estimated 1.5 million bats live under the Congress Ave bridge. One of the largest known bat colonies in the world......living the urban life."

Dog Dive

At first, I thought it was doing it for fun, but then I noticed the bag of food hanging from the limb.

^^B10^^

It will never stop being funny to me that the cure for ADHD is to take a pill at the same time every morning.

LESS THAN EXEMPLARY BEHAVIOR

How Coffee Shops Track Employees and Customers

Companies actually do this creepy, Orwellian-style tracking all the time without your knowledge. Large companies like Target, Walmart, and many others participate in this kind of extreme tracking. This also extends to some smaller companies, as well. They monitor what you look at, what you get, how long you remain in the store, and what items catch your attention the most, along with many other parameters.

The cameras all around the store aren’t just for catching shoplifters like you may have originally thought.

DON'T. DO. THAT.

No language should be mocked other than French. "Bird" is "oiseaux" in French and it's pronounced, "Wazo". It's got vowels out the wazo.

PEOPLE TO ADMIRE

This is what they fight and die for.

Training makes all the difference.

^^D2^^

You have to admire people who overcome limitations.

Did you notice the bartender?

Speaking of...

That is so women don't have to walk too far alone to get to their cars.

^^D9^^

As a maker of unique things, I understand the sentiment.

This man is a craftsman.

Did you notice that the pot he made was far from unique?

^^D10^^

Several young men try and fail to lift this barbell that has much more weight on end.

Then the guy who paid attention in physics class tried it...

JOYFUL MOVEMENT

I think we are born knowing how to express joy with movement.

The blind biker you commend, while you'd normally call such risk-takers irresponsible thrill seekers?

https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/28/world/children-remains-discovered-canada-kamloops-school

Strange how years later not a single body has been dug up. Considering all the outrage one would have expected skeletal remains to be lined up for all to see.

https://nypost.com/2023/08/31/still-no-evidence-of-mass-graves-of-indigenous-children-in-canada/?utm_source=url_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons

“The evidence does not support the overall gruesome narrative put forward around the world for several years, a narrative for which verifiable evidence has been scarce, or non-existent,” James C. McCrae, a former attorney general for Manitoba, wrote in an essay published last year.

McCrae resigned from his position on a government panel in May after his views on residential schools outraged Indigenous groups and other activists and politicians.

I know it's the NY Post but I did search for alternate sources like msnbc, cnn etc but found nothing, they're obviously no longer interested in following up on the story, wonder why.

B2: a tree with just the right dimensions, and evidently a tree with no branches.

B9: there's an even larger back colony, just an hour or so away. It's called Bracken cave. Is the largest bat colony in the world. Quite the sight to watch the bats take flight at night.
