THE MARE'S NEST
I looked over all the items I had strewn around my studio and discovered that I had several dozen numbered brass tags left over and I wanted to use them. I thought of and rejected dozens of ideas until I hit on the Mare's Nest concept.
I also had lots of test tubes.
And thousands of one-dollar bills.
So I spent more days than I care to remember combing through stack after stack of one-dollar bills until I found three digits in a serial number to match the three digits in each tag.
Then I printed out the Mare's Nest component.

Now I was ready.

After many trials and errors, I taught myself how to fold the dollar so the serial number was displayed. After insertion into the test tube, I used a Phillips head screwdriver to form a canal in which to slide in the Mare's Nest declaration so that its number was also displayed.
Then I super glued on the wooden caps.
I was very thankful that I didn't throw away a failed board that I had drilled holes into years ago.
I made a jig so I could slowly rotate the test tubes in order to apply a sealant to the caps with a small brush.
Lastly, I inserted screw eyes and attached the tags.
And now they are ready to spread around my unsuspecting city.
And then we wait.
