Well you cropped out parts of what you were taking a photo of. I cleaned up the image and got "AINLESS S" fofllowed by "JAPAN".
Could be something like Painless Study Japanase. It might be a book from the Barron's Painless series. If you or you daughter still have the book/object I would like to know the name/author please.
It's a stainless steel steak knife.
