It's Veteran's Day.

I joined the Air Force as a skinny 18 year old in 1965.

For whatever reason, the Air Force thought I should be allowed to fix nuclear weapons. That ought to scare the shit out of you.

But I am not the veteran who should be honored today.

NOW - GOD 101

My motivation to post this was a conversation I had with a man the other day. He said that he believed the things he believes because of the bible says that if you bring up a child in the way of the Lord he will never stray. I asked about him being taught that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny were also real and he said those weren't the same because those were just make believe. I but smiled.

I bet this is a real hoot...especially the Accessories/Paraphernalia and Drawbacks windows.

But people will say, "You can't just choose a religion like you choose the brand of car you drive." And I say, "Yes you can. Do you INSIST on driving the same make car your father drove?"

Good luck with that prayer thing. I wonder how many amputees walked up on that stage and left whole? Or the guy with one eye? Or the bald guy? Yet people actually believe this shit....but, of course, their daddy told him it would work and daddy wouldn't lie.

I have more respect for the people who accept no medical care. At least they are consistent....but I wouldn't recommend it.

But there seems to be no limit to the "holy" lunacy people will believe.

Listen up righteous people....there are people born homosexual, there have always been people born homosexual and there always will be people born homosexual. Just take a deep breath and say...."Okay, what the fuck do I care."

But there are people who take their lead on homosexuals from a man that will tell you that you "normal" people can't use condoms and you can go to hell for masturbating. And if that sounds like a pure and simple control technique, that's because it is. If there was a god, I would think he was much too busy to deal with a teenager doing what every teenager has done......EVERY TEENAGER.....EVERYWHERE. If it's evil then we were designed wrong and whose fault is that?

Logic breaks down completely when you discuss religion with religious people. The bible is very good at giving little one-liners that go a long, long way; such as, "It is not meant that we understand everything". I ask if they apply that philosophy to other areas of their lives....like...oh, banking. They say it's not the same. One requires logic, the other requires "believing". Take fossils.

Why weren't they mentioned in the bible, I ask. It wasn't meant for us to understand it, they say. Conversation over.

2 Samuel 21:19 - And there was war with the Philistines again a Gob, and Elhanan, the son of Jaare-oregim the Bethlehimite killed Goliath the Gittite..."

There are so many contradictions in the bible and each time I bring one up I get one of two excuses: the original translation was wrong, or the monk making the copy made a mistake. When I ask if maybe the translation was wrong or the monk erred with "Thou shalt not kill" that may have meant "Thous shalt go out and kill", they say that's impossible because......you ready.....IT'S ILLOGICAL!!!!!!!

So now it's "Let's Make Fun of Jesus" time again, boys and girls....

Why does the idea that death means nothingness frighten so many people?
They were taught to fear it as children. Sad that.
