My daughter sent me a link for a film documentary by one of the very, very few visitors to North Korea. It is a completely insane place. The film makers stayed in a 40 story hotel and they were the only guests. Breakfast was served in a huge ballroom and again, they were the only ones there, but....BUT the staff of 40 kept bringing food to the other tables (empty tables), then after a few minutes taking it away over and over again in an endless procession from the kitchen. Yeah, THAT insane.
There was a young woman who was the hostess for a retreat in the mountains. She worked alone and confessed to the film makers that they were the only human beings she had seen in 10 months.
There are miles and miles of pristine interstate highways with nary a car or truck.
They almost got arrested for standing in front of a mural to be photographed and making the mistake of standing in front of an image of the great leader.
Just about everywhere they went there were propaganda films on TV sets....it was practically incessant.
