Here's my latest sculpture in progress.
For the last few years I have had this innocent looking five gallon bucket next to my chair in my office. The lid was hammered on very securely.
However there is a small screw on cap, and through the port under it I shoved every one dollar bill that I came in contact with. Further, I never paid with one dollar bills; preferring to maximize my collection.
Recently the bucket became full, so I pried off the lid.
Then I began to punch holes in each bill.
A "press" was made by securing two dowels in a base that matched the spacing of the holes in the bills.
It's called a press, because once it gets full, I place a weight on top for a few days to flatten the bills.
(interesting how the fold in the middle of the bills shows up so well)
The stack above only required about 1/6th of the contents of the bucket.
Therefore I have this structure with metal rods and 3 feet tall and will add the flattened bills to it as I amass them.
Upon completion, the base and the top (not shown) will be honed to fine furniture quality. The addition of a solid brass handle will complete the sculpture.
I will count the bills and ever how many there are will be the title......"$3,451 TO GO".
