About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, an educator, Pastafarian and I write. I also will gamble on just about anything. And I like unusual juxtaposition, but I love my wife...and beer. This blog is observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while. Oh, and I mispell alot.

One Of My Very Own…

Jupiter 'shepherds' the asteroid belt, preventing the asteroids from falling into the sun or accreting into a new planet.

I'm not really sure I understand that. How can such massive gravitational force "push" the astroids ahead of it? Furthermore, why aren't the red dots attracted to the planet instead of the group of astroids?

Google maps is mapping hiking trails now. The pack weighs 50lbs!

I'm not much of a hiker, but for a hiker that has to be the perfect job. He is paid to hike, and probably has a guy to carry all the camping gear.

I received this comment to a long ago post:

"Dear Mr Henry I strongly advise you to ask for permission in case of using a photographer's work. I am the owner of the image with your "quote" - "I wouldn't suck your dick if I were suffocating and there was oxygen in your balls". All my images are under copyright and using them without my permission is forbidden. Raluca Caragea."

I told her I don't have time to track down every photographer of every image that comes my way and, further, I don't know how to do such a thing. I sincerely hope she's not still pissed.

She is a beautiful young woman, and the image is indeed artful, but I could but smile to read the caption articulated in her comment.

With that said, let me repeat...you have my permission to use anything I post or write without my permission.

I’m afraid that is true. The name is not all that weird, but 90% of the hirers will think she is black and there are still a lot of racist bastards out there.

I've been told by more than one manager that the big hurdle to overcome is that the person doing the hiring fears that one little joke or serving fried chicken at the company picnic will result in a law suit.

And then there’s this guy…

And then there’s this guy…

The accompanying article explained that being able to look co-workers and clients in the eye is very important.

Well, lady, the solution seems rather obvious.

I would have like to have seen that....from a distance...through glass...with a barf-bag handy.

And the board doesn't have to be that high. There was an experiment where people walked across a board like that on the floor at a fast clip, then when it was raised a mere 6 feet off the floor, they took little baby steps.

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a Pastafarian?

"If I was your creator and you mocked me in this manner I couldn't think of a hell hot enough for you."

"I hope you die in a lake of fire and get your eyes pecked out by crows, so that you may go to hell and exist for eternity in a lake of fire getting your eyes pecked out by crows."

"people like you are scum, I hope you die by the hands of some sick perverted guy who will skullfuck you and then use your skin to make lampshades."

"Charles Darwin went insane when he was 28 anyways (didn't know that did you?) Let me put it this way to you concerning your bologna flying spaghetti monster. If we are created in the image of what you believe God to be, we would look like spaghetti."

But in my own defense, if the Flying Spaghetti Monster isn't real, then why are all the suns and planets shaped like meatballs?

I have asked many times and have yet get a response, so here we go again. What percentage of your income going to the governments would it take for you to take to the streets? And remember, we aren't just talking about the feds, but state and local combined? Right now it is about 50% for the average guy or gal. Give that some thought, please.

I will comment on the taxes. To me it is not about a percentage. It is about what the government does with that percentage combined with my quality of life.

Two extreme examples:

1- I pay 2% taxes but have no access to modern infrastructure and healthcare. In this case I would take to the streets to INCREASE taxes. I need my government to provide certain things that the private sector cannot or will not do.
2. I pay 98% taxes but I have access to "free" education and healthcare, I have no worries about war, crime, or bodily harm, I have can retire at a fairly young age with no worries about 401ks, retirement plans or pensions, and I can still afford all my needs and "wants" with the remaining 2%, why would I possible take to the streets? Utopia.

For me the question is more about balance than a percentage. I pay fairly high property and school tax where I live. However, my kids are going to some of the best public schools in the country. Now turn that around - take my school-tax money and give it to another district (steal from my children) I will take action. As long as I can see what I am paying for, I don't care about the percentage. When I moved here my property tax went up 800%, and I chose to do so.
