Watched a wonderful documentary on the Great Pyramid construction. A prominent building engineer is completely convinced that given the time it took to build (20-30 years) and the number of blocks required to build a solid structure it is not solid stones. He surmises that there is a shell of stacked stones, but the interior was rubble fill. And they had a whole bunch of rubble from dressing the casement stones.
One expert showed how they smoothed the blocks and she used a brick sized stone then she rubbed over the surface like a woman would scrub a floor. I think the Egyptians were smart enough to come up with a spinning tool like this one used to polish a lithograph stone for print making.
This on is made out of metal, but the one at my art class was made out of two inch thick stone.
You just grab the handle and with circular movements the device whirls relatively effortless.

With less than 4 months before Germany surrendered, British and American bombers hit the city with nearly 4000 tons of bombs in 4 raids over 2 days, killing up to 25,000 civilians. They specifically used incendiary bombs, which destroyed much of the city and engulfed the trapped civilians in flames. This is one of the times in WWII where the Allies were accused of war crimes as Dresden was arguably unimportant and in no need of such bombing this close to the end.

Soldiers who are part of the international coalition to free Kuwait after Iraq had invaded it stand next to a knocked out tank after the Battle of 73 Easting in the Gulf War in 1991. The Iraqi armor was so outdated the coalition absolutely obliterated any who did not run. Some 160 Iraqi tanks, 180 Iraqi personnel carriers, and 80 other Iraqi wheeled vehicles were destroyed, along with around 1,000 Iraqi soldiers killed. John Henry Patterson poses with the first of 2 lions he killed at Tsavo, British Eash Africa (now Kenya) in 1898. The lions hunted together, and attacked the railroad workers. Originally it was believed they killed over 100, but modern estimates put it at more like 30. "Someone already does" it makes me cry. And then realizing that when she says death is a door... the same actors are playing different people in an earlier timeline... ugh. Fucked me up. This movie changed my life
