About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

One Of My Very Own

SATISFACTION

NEWSY BITS

Well, it's that time of year again.

===

===
The Cleveland Browns saw this guy's performance and signed him to an eight year contract.
There was another guy who had thought through the problem. He stood sideways so his shoulder was pointed at the hole. He then grabbed a ball with his right hand, shuffled it to his left hand and very quickly just pushed it toward the hole without hardly looking at the target. Oh sure he missed a lot, but his sheer volume of shots was impressive.

ART, ARCHITECTURE AND CRAFTS

A new twist on an old trick.

===
The trail was full of surprises...
Is that art or craft? Sure, why not.

===
Can food be art?
Of course it can.

===
That took me a couple of seconds.

===
How wonderful.

===
If this was your daily commute, do you think you would become immune to it's awesome beauty?
Well, I have a magnificent oak tree in my front yard and every time I'm near it a gaze for several long seconds.

===
This is the longest I've ever been without owning a convertible. I really liked them. They added a whole new dimension to driving.

===
Very organic, isn't it?

===
Look closely, I missed him at first glance.
It's always the shoes, isn't it? At least for me it is.

===
Silly?
Sure, but nobody ever said art can't be silly. Thank goodness.

===
I always like to credit the artist, but this came with no information.

===
This is what happens when you hire an architect to design you patio.

===
Look how similar the next ones are.

I don't know why it bothered me that they didn't use whole tiles, but rather painted them to make them "fit" the design.

WOMEN, SEX AND STUFF

I find our taboo and/or revulsion over images like this hard to understand.

Other cultures have no such rules.
And remember it behooves us as a species to encourage this behavior.

===
There are artists, of course, who use nudity as a medium.

===
This bullshit bugs the shit out of me.
Men are hardwired to look at breasts, and you walk around with them almost hanging out then GET ANGRY if a man looks at them. Don't do that, women. It is beneath you.

So women either let them hang out or they strap them in with the torture device that is the bra.
And don't try to tell me they aren't uncomfortable. I've lived with many woman and when entering the house, every one of them immediately ripped off their bra, sighed deeply and messaged the imprisoned appendages.

POTPOURRI OF FACTS AND ADVICE

In the US we call young women chicks and in England they call them birds. Why women are associated with poultry I don't know.
But here's a bird of a different color.

===
I once wanted to do this to my attic for my kids' playroom.
But got stopped because a city ordinance said that 80% of the floor space had to have an 8 foot clearance. I never could figure out why.

===
Image a battlefield of yore.
Now imagine thousands of these going off over and over. Within minutes nobody can see shit. Terrifying.

===

===
A clear case of "Not my job."

===
Clever kid.

The small community of Albinen is facing a population crisis, with only 240 people now inhabiting the area.

===
Well, technically that's not the woods, it's a clearing.

===

This is why they call plans blue prints even today when they are not, in fact, blue.
I've made a few of those. The copy machine used ammonia on a special paper.

===
Yeah, I know. It's when you get news that a person you love very much is very ill. That scares the shit out of me.

===
Growing up I had a friend who suffered from this. We all found it odd at the great lengths they went to save the nail. I would want that thing gone ASAP.

===
I love walnuts.
But I find it odd that I never buy a bag or twelve except around Christmas.
