A friend of mine started a blog many, many years ago, and I told him I was thinking about starting a blog. He gave me two pieces of advice: Pick a topic and stick to it, and to monetize the account. I told him that I wanted a blog about my observations on a whole bunch of topics. He told me that nobody would give a shit about my observations. Then I asked him how much he had earned with his month's long blog and he said (I swear) "8 cents." I learned two valuable lessons from that conversation: A. I don't take advice well, and B. My friend was an idiot.

THE LEARNING NOOK
The Pantheon in Rome was built as a temple by Hadrian in 117 AD, and has been in continuous use throughout its history.
It is one of the best-preserved of all Roman buildings, now a museum and Roman Catholic church.
But the design was changed, the roof was lowered after construction began and nobody knows why.
Also, the dome is made of concrete; used hundreds of years before we "reinvented" it.

An alert viewer sent me some new images of murals. This guy is good. Not only is it beautiful, but educational.
Then there is this one.
Notice the bottom of the second image. Muralists never paint over another artist's mural without permission. It's like an unwritten law that I never broke. Once the artist had died and I got permission from his widow.
