About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

YOUR VARIOUS TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS

In 2005, the USS San Francisco Ran Into an underwater Mountain

Despite running into an immovable object at more than 30 miles an hour, at depth of 525 feet, the San Francisco didn't sink, nor did it experience a reactor malfunction. Even more incredibly, the submarine was able to move under its own power back to port on Guam.

"Limbo-ghini"?

===0===

1969 Holden Hurricane
It was Australian.

I forgot what the original said, but I changed it to read FREE BEER. I thought it funnier. Took me a while to find a font that remotely looked like stones.

There are rules to music that must be learned if you are going to master it. Same for art. There are sounds the human ear abhors, and there are arrangements of shapes and color that we find less than pleasing.

===0===

Oh, hell no!
I can hardly look at that. Seriously.

Rally driver's pov through the forest.

And...

===0===

Hahahahahahahaha!

===0===

Cruise ship sliced in half to embiggenize it.
Wow.

===0===

What a great headline...

===0===

Wait for it...
For Sale: Some smoke damage.

Another redneck won the lottery...

Dragon boat drift

===0===

Cycles

And...
If that's counted as a win, I would hate to see what abject failure looks like.

SCIENCE AND NATURE

Not sure I get the reference to Violet and her watch. Anybody?

===0===

===0===

I'm assuming that is a juvenal predator.

Speaking of owls, this one found a unlikely friend.

===0===

Halfway between New Zealand and Chile lies the uninhabited Henderson Island . This has been washing ashore for years.

===0===

This, and other, small islands sprouting life give me confidence that man will give life to other planets and/or moons. Life will find a way.

===0===

Want to guess about this...
To ease brain freeze...or so I'm told.

===0===

Coinsidence? I think not.

===0===

Oh, look, naked women.
How'd that get there?

I've never seen a Girl Scout actually eat a Girl Scout Cookie. Is that following the old rule: Never get high on your own supply.

THE HUMOROUS PART

It's a butcher shop.

PROBLEMS WITH HAIR
Poor guy lost part of his beard to an oribital polishing machine!

===0===

I hang out with young people, and shit like that happens all the time.

It's strange that there is a setting on every toaster to completely burn the bread.

HISTORICAL PHOTOS

Humphrey Bogart in the platform shoes he wore in order to see eye to eye with Ingrid Bergman while filming Casablanca, 1942.

The backside of the manually operated Jeopardy! board, the 1970s.

A moment of peace in a war zone.

===0===

That is massive firepower...
But no feed belts?

===0===

One of, if not THE, greatest aircraft ever manufactured.

===0===

Looks like it was once mounted on a ship.

===0===

Olympic Stadium in Rome packed with 50,000 plastic dummies to form the crowd scene for “The Games” 1969.

===0===

Robert Duvall, acting as a human cue card for Marlon Brando, during filming for The Godfather.

===0===

Pulp Fiction: To get the shot of Vincent thrusting the syringe into Mia’s chest, John Travolta was the filmed pulling the adrenaline-filled needle out of Uma Thurman, and then the sequence was played backward. Seems like an awful lot of work for a shot that you barely see – the editing from a closeup of Vincent's face to the syringe to the action shot immediately to Mia's face is extremely quick.

NOURISHMENTS

I feel sorry for people who think breakfast can only be eaten in the morning.

"This serving style came from Lebanon in the 1920s," it was stated.

And here's what MockingGrey has to say about it..

Why did they use a white baby on the poster?
