I've often thought about the fragility of our teeth. I mean, we don't have to "maintain" our toes or our eyes. Most body parts are more or less maintenance-free. But teeth have to be brushed, flossed, and regularly inspected by a professional. Think about the time and money we would all save if each person got those implants as soon as our teeth stopped growing.
I would at least expect the military to have the procedure done on combat troops as just one less thing for them to have to worry about.

^^A2^^ You still have to take care of implants. Brushing, flossing, regular exams and cleaning. It's the gums that are the problem. Get an abscess up in the gums and the bacteria get into your blood and travel thru your whole damn body. Got any joint replacements? Those'll get infected and are hell to get cleaned up if they do. Sepsis city. Recent research suggests strongly that dementia is also caused or at least exacerbated by poor gum health. I've got 3 dental implants. They get just as much tartar on them as regular teeth.
