Playing around with the numbers to lessen the impact of the disaster that is school shootings is interesting. They seem to be saying that if inner-city black youths slaughter each other then it doesn't really count. Next, I expect them to say that sure, hundreds of children were murdered in their classrooms but some of those children would have grown up to be criminals anyway. Or some of them would have died from cancer anyway.
Even if we allow them to reduce the number of "real" victims by HALF and it IS STILL OUTRAGEOUS!
Another commenter fell back on the old argument that there is no need to pass another gun law because criminals don't obey laws. Think about that. EVERY law falls under that exact same criteria, so why outlaw murder or robbery?
But for me, the bottom line is that we are the only advanced country where this happens regularly yet we say there's nothing we can do. That's irrational.
Now back to the image above. That looks like a lot of fun - it really does. But do I think Americans have a right to walk around with one of those? I do not. Weapons of war have no place on the streets of my hometown.

I once designed a mural for a huge building downtown. It was a 20-story zipper positioned so you could see a gigantic American flag underneath. I even painted a mockup before my presentation but a couple of days before I made my pitch a picture of a mural in Australia appeared in the newspaper of a mural depicting a huge zipper on a building. I threw my proposal away because no one would believe I didn't copy the Australian mural.

HUMAN TRAVAILS
That reminds me of walking home drunk in Germany and falling into (what we called) a "Honey Pot". Back then there were 4'x6' structures two concrete blocks high where everyone living nearby placed their food scraps for compost.
Well, it was snowing very hard and I had my head down and collar up and tripped and landed face down in the steaming muck.
That man is recollecting every decision he had ever made that brought him to that very minute in his life.
Mommy needs another sake.
My brother was four years older than me and he threw me a baseball very high and when I tried to catch it, it caromed off the webbing of my glove and smacked me right in the face. My crying brought my mother to the yard where my brother said, "I told him to use both hands." My mother looked down at me and said, "Next time use both hands," then returned to the house.
A valuable lesson learned.
