WHAT RELIGION HAS DONE TO ME

This post is not about the crazy shit in the holy books...

This post is not about the crazy ass shit religious people get people to do...

Nor is about whether the holy books have some pretty fucking good ideas...

It's not about whether miracles are real or just magic tricks...

It's not about evil people using their position of power to harm children...

It's not about religious people who harm themselves and their children...

It's not about the stunning lack of logic...

I don't want to talk about things like the Catholic church forbidding masturbation...

Or the juxtaposition of immense suffering and religious leaders dressed in gold from head to toe...

I want to discuss what religions influence on lawmakers have done to me and my family.

 Have you ever asked yourself why it's okay for men to go topless on a beach, but a woman will be arrested? I lay it squarely at the feet of organized religion.

 It pisses me off when there are laws passed that do things like forbidding drinking on Sunday.

 Porn used to be illegal. Again due to religion.

 Religion's homophobia is well known...

 Getting a hand job at a massage parlor is illegal. I really don't think atheists voted for that.

And consider that it is perfectly legal to fuck your neighbor every day if you like, but if you pay her for it, it's illegal.

I'm going to bundle reproduction rights into such things as access to contraceptives to abortion. All of the restraints come from the religious who just love to tell us how we ought to live.....and if we don't, they will throw us in jail.

Why can't I, if I wanted to, marry more than one woman. Who's business is that?

In some places oral sex is STILL illegal...I even read that the ban includes husbands and wives.

Times were when this man could not (under penalty of law) marry my daughter. The people who thought up that shit quote biblical authority....

And why do you think marijuana illegal?

 The bible thumpers tried this once before with alcohol.

 So, why aren't WE marching in the street?

 Seriously, why can't I fuck a horse if I want to? 

 Why are some words illegal?

What a great T-shirt...

I guess some of us just don't like to obey anything unless we can be shown why it's a good idea to do so.

But that's not good enough for the religious.

 It's almost like their life goal is to fuck with my freedoms.

And fear (whether of arrest or eternal damnation) is a very powerful motivator.

Some of you will never know the liberation you feel when you start thinking for yourselves. 

And I find that kind of sad.
