About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

ANTI-SERMON #1885

Some random thoughts...

Because just being an atheist is not enough.

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love...and then we return home to the universe.

I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than closed by faith.

If the bible wasn't written by ignorant, Bronze Age primitives making up stories to explain the world they lived in, a lot of effort was taken to make it appear that way.

If you want to control a population, give them a god to worship.

Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmily in her seat and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion.

If you can't change your mind, then you're not using it. Your mind is a great gift. Do yourself and the country a favor, open it and use it.

Isn't it sad how some people's grip on their lives is so precarious that they'll embrace any preposterous delusion rather than face an occasional bleak truth?

Just because you can't understand something doesn't mean it's wrong.

AND THEN THERE'S THIS...
I am getting tired of doing this every Sunday. I have had many messages from friends and strangers telling me that I have helped them in their decision to embrace logic, but...I'm still tired of it.
I haven't decided what to do to fill your Sunday slot at Folio Olio, but I will keep you apprised.
