About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

FRIDAY #3753

One Of My Very Own

Nigerians welcome! Who knew?

MOXIE IS NOT AN ADHESIVE

The Chinese government bans its people from seeing this. It's deemed OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL.
By the way, Folio Olio has no Chinese viewers. Imagin that.
^^1^^

Steve Irwin was one funny man.

 ^^2^^

Cosplay excellence...
 ^^3^^

Remember Left Shark?

Yeah, that's moxie.
^^4^^

You miss 100% of shots you don’t take - Example #1.

^^5^^

You miss 100% of shots you don’t take - Example #2.

I hate to get all serious, but ladies, if you wear a dress like that and then get angry when you catch a man staring, then fuck you.
^^6^^

Things kind of went crazy after they decided poems didn't have to rhyme anymore.

LIFE IN AMERICA

I've talked to many ordinary people about that outrage and it was explained to me that ordinary people just ASSUMED rich parents did that all along. They are more shocked that they got caught than that they did it.
^^7^^

WE CAN'T PROTECT OUR CITIZENS BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE SOCIALIST!!!
Then let's change what we call it. Let's call it Apple Pie Bald Eagle Iwo Jima John Wayne Medical Assistance.
Or let's flip it around:
OH HELL NO, CAPITALIST DON'T CARE ABOUT ITS CITIZENS. FUCK WORKERS! WE CAN GET MORE.
^^8^^

Defeat-addicted Democratic Party doesn’t know where to go for its next fix.
I am sorely UNIMPRESSED with the Dem field. At this rate, Trump will be a shoo-in.
I knew for sure that the Dems were doomed when I heard that Pete Buttigieg was being criticized for not acting gay enough.

The battle is lost. Slam dunk Mr. Trump...and I'll bet money on it.
^^9^^

McDonald's should fly their flags at half-staff when their ice cream machine is down.

And an explanation for my foreign viewers - their ice cream machine seems to be perpetually broken.
^^10^^

My wife and I got off an airplane in Charlotte at 10pm Christmas Eve and the only restaurant open in the whole city was a Waffle House on the interstate...although it had a line wrapped around the building.
^^11^^

I know a white woman who supports her dead beat rapper wannabe boyfriend.
^^12^^

Americans are like Alice in Wonderland in that they just keep randomly eating and drinking with the hope it might magically solve their problems.

WHY EVERYONE NEEDS INSURANCE

^^13^^

Well played, sir, well played.
^^14^^

 ^^15^^

I'm thinking that was not a happy accident, but rather followed a carefully shifting of the weight until it worked.
^^16^^

Remarkable little damage. Again, well played, sir.
^^17^^

I told my neighbors that in her spare time my wife microwaves butterflies.

GET LEARNT

Commercial swordfish harvesting.
As I understand it, the fish uses its sword to chop its prey into bits then dine leisurely. I don't see how those lures are going to be fruitful.
^^18^^

I could hardly take my eyes off of that.
^^19^^

 What if CO2 was visible?

There may be hope...

The research team led by RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, developed a new technique using a liquid metal electrolysis method which efficiently converts CO2 from a gas into solid particles of carbon. The scientists say their technology offers an alternative pathway for safely and permanently removing greenhouse gas from the atmosphere.

And what would humans be without love? Rare, said Death.

SHIT YOU DON'T SEE EVERY DAMN DAY

How do you like it, coach?
 ^^23^^

It just seems a shame that anything that old should have to die.
 ^^24^^

I've run across this a couple of times with a caption about him having places to be.
I ran it through Google Image Search and all I could find are the memes made from the image but not where the image originated. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Is that okra?

Dragon Stringer

Glue soaked string. I found the different techniques fascinating.

When my wife gets angry I look at her through a fork and pretend I'm in jail. It heals me spiritually.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

Pickn Placer
Yes, they are called  Pickn Placers and I think it's a great term.
But notice that each young girl is tethered to what I can only assume is a counter of some sort.
Anyway, I found the video essay delightful.

A man guards his family against cannibals during the Madras famine of 1877.

It was a man-made/artificial famine, caused by the British Raj continuing to export grain from India to other colonies and England rather than using the grain to feed the people who lived there.
Spent a long time looking for information on that, but found nothing. But I'm going to assume it is related to this image.

That is one powerful piece of artwork.
^^28^^

Quick, pick out the one true god!

And every believer on the planet picks their own god as the one true god. Think how illogically arrogant that is.
It's like believing that your planet is the best planet...or your country is the best country, your planet is the best, your galaxy is the best, and your dimension is best. It seems humans have a real need to just declare anything they have - usually through an accident of birth - is the very best in the world. But then there are those things declared best just because you prefer them - Fords are better than Dodges. The Packers are better than any other football team...well, that one is actually factual.

I almost missed that.

You can tell the little bastard not to do that a hundred times, but the pain will make him remember it for the rest of his life.

 Probably.

That's not a tether but a ground strap to keep static electricity from damaging the electronics.
