About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

This Is How the Magnetosphere Shields Earth From the Sun
I've never seen it illustrated as two vortexes like that.
Each second, 1.5 million tons of solar material shoot off the Sun into space.
But solar wind can get in near the poles and disrupt satellite, radio & GPS signals.

18 year old steals a car, puts it online for sale, then kills the people who came to buy it. Nothing makes sense anymore.
My first father-in-law sold a car with a want ad and the guy said he had cash. So they agreed to meet in a busy parking lot to complete the transaction. While counting out the cash on the hood of the car two police cars swooped in handcuffed both of them and had them sprawled over the hood. They thought they were making a drug deal. After thoroughly searching both of them they let them go.

Nope. Corvette's use of advanced materials began in 1953 when the first Corvettes were produced with all-fiberglass bodies. Every Corvette since has featured a composite-material body. Fiberglass, the lightweight, rust-proof composite material, was first considered for use on a GM vehicle by legendary designer Harley Earl.

I had no idea this was going on.
Since 1996, the United States Government has been deporting veterans who, as legalized citizens, joined the United States Armed Forces and served their country proudly. Veterans who have been deported served in wars such as Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Kosovo, Iraq & Afghanistan, and served in both combat and peacetime.

The Deported Veterans Support house operates under the direction of founder Hector Barajas who served with the 82nd airborne and was deported in 2004 & given US Citizenship 14 years later on April 13, 2018.
The house operates as a shelter and resource center for veterans who need assistance, as well as the office for our political advocacy efforts in the realm of immigration reform.  DVSH also raises awareness about the deported veteran cause through social media, public outreach, and community events.
Also:
The Department of Veterans Affairs’ newly established (2018) clinic in Tijuana just began giving exams to determine whether deported veterans have injuries or illnesses connected to their military service. If they do, they could become eligible for government-paid health care and monthly paychecks from the VA.

It's called kerning.
And it's interesting that the r and n in kerning appear to be an m in some fonts.
In old printing presses, there was a tiny spacer that could be inserted between the two such letters.

Humans seem to have a real need to associate themselves with non-human animals.

Some of these associations are more dangerous than others...
