About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

The pressure wave was recorded around the world.

This is in South Carolina. Missed me by about 50 miles.

I kind of wanted to see another snow - it's been decades.

PEOPLE

This is a picture of Abu Tahsin Al-Salhi, an Iraqi veteran who is credited with killing over 384 isis members during the Iraqi civil war, receiving the nickname “hawk eye.” the leader of Isis was so afraid of him, he put a bounty of $250,000 on him.

My wife is the worst at that.

PLACES

Comfort Town, a suburb of Kyiv, was created to brighten up former grey Soviet buildings from the 1950s and 1960s.

I think that trees would have helped more than the paint colors.
^^B1^^

^^B2^^

In a national park a four-hour drive north of Sydney in Australia, fire is smoldering out of control – and it's been doing so for at least 6,000 years. Known as 'Burning Mountain', the mysterious underground blaze is the oldest known fire on the planet. And some scientists estimate it may be far more ancient than we currently think.

From a Brit:

The artist is called StreetArtFrankey from Amsterdam

That would never last unmolested in America. We are the people who topple balanced boulders that have been there since the Ice Age.

Just for the hell of it.

^^B8^^

These guys road-tripped across Bulgaria in a 50-year-old soviet car.

The car also ran on a combination of gasoline and methane gas. Here is the rather dangerous-looking (although entirely safe) fueling of the vehicle.

I really like viewing things like that.

An easy trick to remember 'affect' versus 'effect':

Affect: Fuck around.

Effect: Find out.

THINGS

Perfect and deadly camouflage.

^^C1^^

^^C2^^

I would take that as a sign from God and go curl up by the fire with a beer.
^^C3^^

As much as I like ducks I ought to raise one. Whadda you say?
^^C4^^

Very nice.

^^C5^^

Another "I know a guy who can do it cheaper"...

^^C6^^

I bet that would drive cats nuts.
^^C7^^

Looks like my wife establishing dominance at a buffet.

ALL THINGS RALPH

^^D1^^

Jeez.
^^D2^^

My brother once bid $26K on a car just like that one at the famed Red Baron auctions. The bid went much higher and he went home. The next day he got a call from the auction saying that the winner of the bidding couldn't come up with the money and if my brother wanted the car for $26K he could have. He bought it...dirt cheap.
^^D3^^

I would collect the shit out of those.
^^D4^^

I once mounted a porch swing on a 4x4 frame I built in my parent's yard next to the lake. My large sister asked if it would hold her. I told her it would hold a Volkswagen then she say and broke the chain! This reminds me of that day...

I like the way this thing looks around to see if anyone saw him do that...

^^D5^^

I posted that because of the tree.

I once drove a 1948 GMC pickup.

It had no backup lights and every morning before the sun rose I had to back it through my heavily wooded backyard to get to the road. So, I painted all the trees like the one in that first photo.
^^D6^^

That is my ultimate punishment.

^^D7^^

Rossi 12 gauge shotgun pistol

My Judge looks puny next to that thing!

^^D8^^

There are viewers who think I am shitposting anytime I mention anything political. I sympathize with these people and wish I didn't have a need to address these issues. Please bear with me.

I used to hate homeless people...until I got to know a few of them. These people need help - not condemnation.

Somebody needs to explain to me that using so much of our healthcare dollars to support insurance companies is a good idea.

I have a shotgun just like that. The first time I shot it the thing bucked up out of my left hand and almost hit me in the nose. I learned to hook my thumb over the barrel.

Then had one of these installed:

A11: this particular diver landed flat. I've done that more than once.
What really hurts is when you hit the water in a tuck and the bones behind the eyebrows punch holes through the skin when they impact the knees.

All divers have cut wounds from water impact.

I would love to share, copy, steal... whatever, your video about the Sculpture Safe. How can I do that? Thank You. DTS

Dear DTS, I sure wish I could help you but I just tried to copy it and couldn't. However, I have some very smart followers and one of them will surely chime in with a solution. Check comments later.

D6: you mean to tell me that you went out and painted all of the trees white rather than spending 45 minutes and $10 to mount a toggle switched light on your bumper?

Anonymous wanting video download: My desktop web browser allows downloading the sculpture safe video by right clicking on it. If yours does not, here's a link where you should be able to download it by clicking the "Download" button.

Dear D6 Anon, I had an airless sprayer and plenty of leftover paint. What I didn't have at the time was $10.

I just watched a limited series on Netflix called "Stay Close". The parking lot at Vipers had the trees painted white at the bottom.

If you like mystery and suspense, you need to watch it.

Dear DTS, So glad you were able to obtain the video.
All the Best,
Raul
