About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

FRIDAY #2472

One Of My Very Own…

THERE WILL BE POST THIS WEEKEND.

Crank up the volume and let it all hang out.

Such a man CAN NOT be elected President of the United States.

 This is unacceptable.

Niagara falls dry due to an ice jam 1848 for approximately 30-40 hrs. Articles that had been laying on the river's bottom for hundreds of years picked up as souvenirs-bayonets, guns barrels, muskets, tomahawks and other artifacts of the War of 1812. People on foot, horseback or buggy crossed the width of the Niagara River. It was a historical event that had never occurred before and has never been duplicated since. Thousands attended church services many thinking it the beginning of doomsday.

A guy told me how hard it was for him to take a nap. I told him how hard it was for me NOT to take a nap. We had a good laugh, and then I punched him in the face.

By now, you should all know how I feel about this.
It is a perfect example of using something you don't need to make something you do need.

Not as stupid as one would first think. They offer book signings and other events dedicated to that one book. They also have artwork inspired by the books and book club meetings, etc.

What a wonderful idea for limited living space.

Girls, if you walked in to a boy's bedroom and saw this, how would your react?
Seriously. I want answers goddamnit!

I posted that for several reasons. A) I love that tool.  B) Why do they call it a hooligan bar? I thought that was a tavern in the hood. C) It reminded me of a story.
At the American Legion during its hayday, a rather large drunk women fell off the toilet and wedged in the small space between the wall so securely that they had to call the fire department. It was all fun and games until the firemen noticed that they only had one exit and closed them down. They managed to install another exit, which was a real trick since the bar was in the basement.

I don't know how it is that I never attended Burning Man. It is my kind of gathering.

The Palais Idéal in Hauterives, France is a unique structure. It is made entirely out of stones that postman Ferdinand Cheval collected on his mail route.
One night, Cheval dreamed about building a palace. He thought nothing of this dream for years, until one day in the spring of 1879, when his foot caught on an unusual-looking rock during his postal route. The rock was so fascinating to Cheval that he took it home to admire it. It also gave him an idea.
For the next 33 years, Cheval continued picking up more stones during his postal route, first putting them in his pockets, then graduating to a basket, and finally using a wheelbarrow. Each one of the stones was hand-selected by Cheval to play a part in the construction of his dream palace.

The tool is actually called a Halligan, named after Hugh Halligan, the fireman who designed it. Having worked as a fireman I can tell you that it is the most versatile tool on the truck.

I wanted to be a fireman once, but my utter terror of fire stopped me.
Seriously, thanks for the head's up.

Oh Folio, the man with his dog being taken away. That's the first time I've ever cried reading your blog, and the tears won't stop. Saddest thing I've seen in a long, long time.

How would I respond if I saw handlebars over a man's bed? I'd check to see how secure they were, and then look for some rope. If they were just for show, I'd be very, very disappointed.
