About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, an educator, Pastafarian, and I write. I also will gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog is observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

NEWSY BITS

Yeah, their performance enhancing drug is Budweiser.

This is what it takes...

Oddsmakers are already taking bets on how many NK athletes will defect before closing ceremony

Let's not forget how NK reported on the last Olympics

Some Olympic news you may have missed...

That was just one man's opinion.

Valentine's "News."

A dear young couple was sitting next to me today and she showed me her diamond pendant and said, "Look what Dylan got me." I looked at him and said, "For Thanksgiving?" He corrected, "You mean Valentine's?" And I said, "Not if you cherish your woman. She said, "Oh, that was so sweet." To which I answered, "I've been married a long time."

If only...

===
I'll just let this speak for itself.

PEOPLE CAN BE SUCH DICKS

Shit like that is what is going to get the  government involvement in licensing service animals.

"But it was the revelation that the supervisor of the unit instructed officers to carry a toy gun just in case they found themselves “in a jam” and needed to plant one."

The most uncomfortable moment in my day is the time spent waiting in silence while someone searches for a "funny" YouTube clip I "am going to love".

SCIENCE AND SUCH

If the Moon orbited Earth from the same altitude as the Space Station.

I find images like this breathtaking.

I stand in awe....it actually...I sit in awe.

This is an intact human nervous system that was dissected by 2 medical students in 1925. It took them over 1500 hours. There are only 4 of these in the world.

About 3200 years ago, two armies clashed at a river crossing near the Baltic Sea. The confrontation can’t be found in any history books—the written word didn’t become common in these parts for another 2000 years—but this was no skirmish between local clans. Thousands of warriors came together in a brutal struggle, perhaps fought on a single day, using weapons crafted from wood, flint, and bronze, a metal that was then the height of military technology.

This guy made a bet that he could land atop Devil's Tower.

So on October 1st, 1941, George Hopkins dove out of a plane that had been chartered for the jump.
He did, in fact, land atop the structure, but he had no way to get down.

not sure if your comment on curling about Budweiser was based on experience or the appearance of competitors...

The fact is Curling clubs compete with each other at "Bonspiels" which are day long drinking events. My observation was that drinking was just as important as curling.

Curling is a better sport than most realize!
