About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

THURSDAY #3609

One Of My Very Own

Is this really the best we can do?

<>

And now the good news...

Aliens probably ride pass Earth and lock their doors.

A nurse named Allyn Pierce drove through a raging fire in Paradise and helped to set up a make-shift hospital to help desperate and injured people who had made their way to the evacuated hospital.
<>

I gave away all my artist's acrylics to a young muralist.
That is but a very tiny part of it. There were many brand new unopened gallon bottles.
She cried. I almost cried. It was a good day.
-- My views to Folio Olio has skyrocketed again today.

And I'm not talking about a small blip; I'm talking ten times normal and the vast majority came at 1am and 7am, which I surmised was my foreign viewers, but no...they are all from the good ole USA. I don't know the cause, but it still left me proud.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

=2=

And the number is growing exponentially.
=3=

Let me know how this works out for you. Seriously.
You can only scroll down from the left side of the screen that leads you to. Don't ask me why.

I hate it when I'm on the treadmill and accidentally hit the stop button and go to my bar for a couple of beers.

ART AND ARTISTS

Well, maybe. But artists vary just like everyone else. Maybe the signs should have read "I fear rejection," etc.
=7=

Do you have any idea how hard it is to come up with a never before seen idea?
=8=

As a muralist, I was not obliged to be 100% never before seen in my designs.
Many times I am hired to paint the image that the funding source already has and I was cool for that. I would add an additional cost if the image was going to be boring.
=9=

=10=

Crossover paintings can be fun if not funny.
That, of course, came from this.
=11=

When you want beauty, you can't go wrong with women.
=12=

The more naked the better.
=13=

=14=

=15=

=16=

The point is that artist have to eat, too.
=17=

I understand everything there is to know about selling out your art in order to sell it.
But artists live in the same world as everyone else and they need money. That, to me, was my strong suit. I could sell the shit out of my murals.

Here in America, we have smaller secret pants that we wear under our normal pants.

SOCIETY

Americans seem to ignore how very easy it is to lose their freedoms and even when presented with numerous red flags just ignore them.
=19=

From "Photographs from Poland in the 80's" we are reminded just how easy it is to be imprisoned by you own government.

I found these last two images intriguing.

This one reminded me of something I saw in Germany in the 1960s.
I saw a man plowing a field about that large with a plow just like that being pulled by a brand new Mercedes sedan driven by his wife.
=20=

Everybody gives advice as if they know what life is about.
=21=

(RH: I have long been convinced that the average person is just plain stupid.)
=22=

You can tell a lot about a country in the way they treat their animals.
=23=

Is it really fear?
Have racists been convinced that black people are dangerous? Probably.

=24=

But nowadays, who really thinks that Jews are dangerous?
I just don't get it.
=25=

I don’t give my children “chores”. I give them “missions” and that change in the terminology has made my whole life easier.

WEIRDNESS

I'm not sure why these fascinated me so much, but I mulled over every one of them.
=26=

Ran across a photo essay of famous people all tatted up. This one made me smile most.
=27=

Talk about weird...
=28=

I agree, but it is perfectly okay to invent a point that works for you. As a matter of fact, inventing something to call the point may be the point.
=29=

=30=

One night I when I was playing poker with Tarot cards I got a full house and four people died and my dead cousin showed up.
=31=

On the opening day of my favorite bar, the owner assigned me a bar stool. It is the stool on the left end of the bar next to the kitchen and with a view of the front door. That is where bartender stands when business is slow.
This is also where the manager and kitchen help friends step out to say a word to me.

Many times when the manager is standing in front of me some customers will leave and he will say, "Thank you, folks. Come again."

I turn on my stool and whisper, "He didn't really mean that. He says that to everybody."

And a good time was had by all.
