About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

MYSTERY THEME

NOTE
In the past, I have had a whole post with one mystery theme which I wouldn't reveal until the end. I have resurrected that tradition in this fun section today.
The rules are simple: Each image shares a common theme with all the others in this section.
Be forewarned that I allowed several images to make the cut that probably would not have been included on a normal day.
Enjoy.

And he stands outside to film it.
And here are people just standing around watching this huge rare tornado in Romania.

^^2^^

Speaking of standing around filming, what are these imbeciles thinking?
 ^^3^^

 ^^4^^

This seems extremely low-tech for the task at hand...
 ^^5^^

Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. The picture was taken several days after the iconic pictures of Marines raising the flag. The story of the Marines who raised the flag is nicely pictured in the movie "Flag of Our Fathers".
^^6^^

Boat parker
I don't see any tugboats assisting. That's remarkable.
^^7^^

Have you ever walked into a grocery store or some such place and your ex and her family are in there also?
 ^^8^^

 ^^9^^

I've painted hundreds of wall and never have I deemed this necessary.
 ^^10^^

Wait for it...
 ^^11^^

 ^^12^^

That's brilliant.
^^13^^

I have a thing about animals perfecting their camouflage for millions of years...
 ^^14^^

Western Australian road trains are now road legal at 5 trailers long.  Pass with care.
^^15^^

Mexico getting ready for their holidays
I was puzzled why the grills were angled, but then I figured out that the side closer to the fire was hotter than the high side.

LONG THIN THINGS

The day I posted this Mystery Post I told my wife about it without telling here the common thread that connected each image. This funny woman guessed, "You're not going to post pictures of us having anal sex are you?" I laughed aloud and told her, "No, but it would have surely fit into the theme!!!"
True.

I'm never more optimistic than when I put Chinese food restaurant teriyaki packets in the kitchen drawer and think I'm going to use them at some point.

SELDOM SEEN SCENES

That they don't even have motors makes that even more remarkable.
^^17^^

A real sand castle...
 ^^18^^

^^19^^

A good wingman makes all the difference.
^^20^^

Poor bastard has no way to understand what is happening to him.

 ^^22^^

Amazing playing skills
Unmute your sound.

Someone knows how to strap down a tractor.
I'm very impressed.

If you’ve never had an adorable little human follow you into the bathroom and say “good job” after you wipe yourself, you wanna borrow my grandson?

I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE WENT BACK AND REVIEWED THE MYSTERY SECTION ITEMS TO MAKE SURE THEY ALL HAD A LONG THIN THING.

ITEMS OF WHICH YOU MAY BE UNAWARE

Deniers are a dangerous lot. The stakes are too high to play games with the facts. There is no global conspiracy to ruin the economy. There ARE efforts afoot to save our fucking planet.
^^25^^

Speaking of saving our planet...
A decade from now, on Friday, April 13, 2029, a large asteroid will streak across the sky — but it's a cause for excitement, not fear, scientists say.
That asteroid, called Apophis, stretches about 1,100 feet (340 meters) across and will pass within 19,000 miles (31,000 kilometers) of Earth's surface. That might sound scary, but scientists are positive that it will not hit Earth. Instead, it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance for scientists to truly understand asteroids near Earth.
Note:   Satellites shown in blue-green dots
^^26^^

This sign to Boston, in Newport Oregon, marks the end of route 20, the longest continuous road in the United States.
 ^^27^^

But the story does not have a happy ending:

I just realized that Buffalo Bill was wearing a woman's scalp.

I always assumed it was just a poorly fitting wig.
^^31^^

^^32^^

I taught this kid in elementary school.
And, yes, he was a weird kid.
^^33^^

 ^^34^^

Must have sucked to have been the 351st person who got the tattoo.

I would like to think money won’t change me, but I found $5 in the pocket of my spring coat and immediately bought name brand aluminum foil.

LAST LAUGHS

I watched a silly movie called Evolution. And silly it certainly was, but it's got some great lines, like this recent internet famous meme.
Then there was the scene where the prim housewife rummaged around in her kitchen junk drawer...

And came out with a hand cannon.

Another smile inducer...
 ^^36^^

I'm fucking impressed!
^^37^^

 ^^38^^

 ^^39^^

Excuse me, I have to get this.
 ^^40^^

Let me know how that works out for you.

 I couldn't possibly agree more.
