About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

THINGS I THINK OF OFTEN

I heard a governor educating the citizens of her state with this: "Viruses are so small that expecting a piece of cloth to stop them would be like expecting a chainlink fence to stop mosquitoes."
There are so very many things wrong with that not the least is the fact that the viruses can't travel outside a water droplet which CAN be stopped by cloth.
And she has scientists and doctors to advise her. Scary that.

The current system is much better, you pay for everyone's healthcare AND for the salaries of blood-sucking insurance middlemen.

A dear older friend of mine once gave me the gem of advice: "Never loan money to a friend or family member. Figure out what you can comfortably give them and make it a gift."

I have taken that advice with stellar results.

I came, I saw, I forgot what I was doing, retraced my steps and got distracted on my way back and now I have to pee.

YET ANOTHER ATTEMPT

AT HUMOR

Old memories die hard...
"Heil Hitler."

I'm always amazed that Alzheimer's patients who can not recognize their children can still remember that they are racist.

GET LEARNT

Often overlooked, they answered the call, not enough credit given to these men.

Here are eight Indians who volunteered from day one. All these flew in the Battle of Britain. The gentleman seated second from the left is Squadron Leader Mohinder Singh Pujji, a highly decorated Hurricane and Spitfire pilot who flew in Europe, Africa, and the Far East.

Sand dunes and smaller structures of scalloped sand are seen in south Melas Chasma on Mars

In 2006 this awesome find was made in Montana by a trio of professional fossil hunters. It’s taken years to painstakingly excavate it, but the prospects of the information to be gained from these uniquely preserved fossils are worth it.

Charitable donors have made it possible for the enormous specimen to be acquired by The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, which is due to start building their exhibition in 2021.

This is the data sonification of the Helix Nebula.

I have not idea what the caption means, but that is some rather freaky stabilization.

You've seen that before but I just learned they are chickens, not pigeons. But what I want you to notice is that several birds do not participate. They stand back as if supervising the whole affair.

This makes my brain hurt...

I am fascinated by these vehicles.

Those were the vehicles of choice for my survivors in the apocalypse book I once wrote. When they came to an obstacle they just pulled up the train wheels and drove around it.

Puzzle time:
Notable, not able, no table

Not able, and no table are not one word. The instructions were misleading. I ended up Googling the question and found the answer, was disappointed that the instructions didn't allow the answer to be broken into more than one word.
