About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

MOTORIZED VEHICLES

^^A1^^

^^A2^^

After this is all over I think we will all be amazed at what Ukrainians brought to the battlefield.

^^A2a^^

^^A3^^

This wheel placement is inherently unstable - think tricycle.

The simple adjustment of two wheels in the front and one in the back makes it very stable.

So these two old models were way ahead of their time.

^^A7^^

^^A8^^

You younger people have no idea how hot those old cars could get.

^^A9^^

I'm sorry, I know there is a simple explanation but how does a pigeon find it way back to a "mobile carrier pigeon loft"?

^^A10^^

Quality parking is a real problem in the Russian interior.

^^A11^^

I have a theory about mob mentality. If there was but one spectator I doubt he would stand that close but with a multitude, he feels safe.

^^A12^^

^^A13^^

Great numbers are very impressive but if the Soviet Union had sent hundreds of bombers toward Europe the United States had air to air nuclear missiles that would blow every one of them out of the sky with one shot.

Of course, the Soviets had missiles that would knock our bombers down also. And that, Gentle Readers, is why nobody ever sent any bombers.

^^A14^^

Speaking of...

Do you think that is photoshopped?

^^A15^^

Before Sigourney Weaver people had to weave their own sigourneys by hand.

I saw a study that said apathy was an early sign of dementia. I forget where I saw it and frankly I don't give a shit anymore.

OBJECTS OF INTEREST

When I showed you this the first time I thought it was just an anomaly.

But after seeing this I think it is part of their mating ritual.

^^B1^^

That fruit is named Jabuticaba in Brazil. Quite common. Real tasty. Or so I'm told.

^^B2^^

I am absolutely certain I would be terrible at that.

^^B3^^

For a man who appreciates the female foot, the popularity of flip-flops was a god sent.

My daughter bought me this for Christmas because she understands me.

^^B4^^

^^B5^^

The Sweep of this Minute Hand...

^^B6^^

Guessing: It helps push livestock towards the exit at the top (instead of squishing them).

^^B7^^

^^B8^^

With newly installed sod I think this would actually work.

^^B9^^

^^B10^^

There is something odd about this foosball table.

The handle configuration is wrong.
Speaking of...

To an old foosball pro that is impressive.

^^B11^^

It was stated that this leaves the grass undamaged.

^^B12^^

Hilltop House Brooksville, Florida, USA. 1972 Architect: William Morgan.

That would do wonders for the heating and air conditioning bills.

^^B13^^

Very poor choice of wording.

^^B14^^

????

^^B15^^

^^B16^^

If you're wondering what to get me for Christmas this year…

^^B17^^

Who doesn't like writing prompts?

It’s not the fact that we all swallow 8 spiders a year that gets to me. It’s the fact that 56 billion spiders a year make that choice.

My warrior status is dramatically diminished every time I check my phone to see what I ordered instead of opening the box.

A HUMAN MENAGERIE

^^C1^^

I would find that irresistible.

^^C2^^

I have done shit like that before. Sometimes the old adage "you do what you gotta do" is legitimate.

^^C3^^

I wonder how he learned that he could do that without damaging the eggs.

^^C4^^

War victims have been doing that for as long as there is been war.

Look what the Vietnamese did with our dropped fuel tanks.

^^C5^^

^^C6^^

Speaking of...

So, with that display of remorse, he actually thought he needed to sign his name...???

^^C7^^

^^C8^^

^^C9^^

Somehow I felt a great personal accomplishment when my daughter got her Ph.D. And that my grandson will get his Ph.D. is a forgone conclusion.

^^C10^^

^^C11^^

A very wise very rich old man once told me that the only difference between a rich man and a poor man was that when the shit hits the fan the rich man is better dressed.

^^C12^^

I think most of that was caused by shrapnel.

^^C13^^

I think it's very important to find a partner who matches your morning alertness...or lack thereof.

^^C14^^

Bike on a Hill

^^C15^^

Grandma on the Drums

Midnight Hour

^^C17^^

This is in the Maldives.

People behave differently around sand and not just abbreviated clothing.

You see no normal person would do this anywhere but on a beach.

Oh, you may attempt it away from the beach but it's never quite the same.

And sand is so… malleable.

And on the sand, a little freak out from time to time is considered admirable.

*I found that a wonderful thing to behold.

https://www.carriageassociationofamerica.com/mobile-pigeon-lofts-susan-green/

Historically, pigeons carried messages only one way, to their home. They had to be transported manually before another flight. However, by placing their food at one location and their home at another location, pigeons have been trained to fly back and forth up to twice a day reliably, covering round-trip flights up to 160 km (100 mi).
