About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

THINK ABOUTS

That is probably more or less true in elementary through middle school because children have to learn the fundamentals. But in high school and college, the thrust is to teach young people how to think. If this was not your experience with higher education I pity you.

^^A1^^

One would think that truck drivers would get on the CB radios and tell all the other truck drivers which direction the wind is coming from so they could position their trucks accordingly.

^^A2^^

If it were up to me I would include plants in the building codes of every new structure.

^^A3^^

My mailman is like an old friend and I trust him implicitly so when he told me that DeJoy has totally fucked up the post office I believe him.

^^A4^^

^^A5^^

My wife got all of her accounts hacked. They traced it to a guy in New Jersey. We put a hold on all of our money and changed every password and that motherfucker is still fucking with us.

BTW: I once read that you need a credit card for online purchases that has a credit line of only $500. That way if they hack it the most they can get is $500. So my wife asked the bank for such a card only to be told that they do not exist.

^^A6^^

*god I love the absurd

^^A7^^

Apparently washing someone else's hands with your urine while they take a shit on the floor in front of you is frowned upon.

^^A8^^

^^A9^^

Nothing distresses me more about America than the old guard clinging to its racist past.

^^A10^^

Consider the seeing-eye dog.

Now consider the words separately: Seeing. Eye. Dog.

"Seeing Eye". I find that strange.
^^A11^^

Nothing frightens me more than seeing my wife walk around the house with a measuring tape.

<>

*that took me a moment

<>

Has your wife ever been so angry that she gave a house plant the finger? Mine has.

HUMAN CREATIVITY

I once read that the old masters included a flaw in grand Cathedrals so that they couldn't be accused of rivaling God and his perfection. I like making my boxes out of reclaimed wood because imperfections are more easily tolerated.

^^B1^^

Do you think the illusion was staged or simply serendipity?

^^B2^^

^^B3^^

^^B4^^

It boggles the mind to think of all the scientific advancements made for waging war.

^^B5^^

One would assume the camera is heavily insured.

^^B6^^

I thought he deserved an Oscar for this role in MIB. He nailed it.

^^B7^^

I have long been fascinated by architecture. In my hometown, I often stop just to study at a beautiful Tutor-style house.

^^B8^^

That iterates my point concerning flaws being excused when reusing reclaimed materials.

^^B9^^

Why the fucking Astroturf? It needs to be sitting on the earth...or better yet more stones.

^^B10^^

Do you consider this...silly?

Probably. But there is a whole bunch of fine art that could be considered silly. The hard part is coming up with something that is brand new - never before seen by another human eye. Try it sometimes. You don't even have to make it - just think of a brand new idea for an object.

SHIT I DON'T SEE EVERY DAMN DAY

I think they are fighting over the winning ball.

I'm glad they did away with that barbarity.

^^C1^^

I have determined that it would be impossible for one person to construct that alone. Prove me wrong if you dare.

^^C2^^

My old back does not allow me to sit without back support for very long. I think that is a fine idea...but it still wouldn't get me on a motorcycle.

^^C3^^

I wonder if the guy in the black jacket puts that on his résumé.

"Bong Guy" - Summer of 2022.

^^C4^^

I'd give him a buck just for upsetting that commenter who is abhorred by the idea of using the anus for recreational purposes.

^^C5^^

What could that man possibly be saying to gain such rapt attention under those circumstances?

^^C6^^

This is a police officer in peril.

And the cameraman just keeps on filming.

^^C7^^

So very humanlike...

^^C8^^

The more things change...

^^C9^^

I would think such things damage the turf less than tires.

^^C10^^

Soccer Fall

^^C11^^

Pushup

Whether reversed or not doesn't explain how it was done.

^^C12^^

Damn Nature You Scary

^^C13^^

It's that time of year again for my wife to get her head shaved to raise money for children with cancer.

But please think about what you just read. In America, we have children with cancer who are at the mercy of kind strangers to fund their treatment. If you organized society from scratch would you include that part or could you possibly come up with a more humane policy?

Anyway, I told her she looked like Telly Savalas - which I know now was a huge mistake.

GET LEARNT

The dinosaur link is strong with that one.

^^D1^^

Back during WWII, in 1943 they issued these 'Safety Bra' plastic bras to supposedly protect female workers at war plants.

^^D2^^

Why type? It should be voice-activated.

^^D3^^

You can’t blame the children if their thoughts were elsewhere. On a stage before them in a heated studio in Copenhagen stood five adults in bathrobes. There was a brief moment of silence, as faces turned serious. Having discussed it for days before in school, the children knew what was coming next. Mr. Schow gave a little nod, and the adults cast off their robes.

Facing the children, and the cameras, they stood completely naked, like statues, with their hands and arms folded behind their backs.

And so began a recording of the latest episode of an award-winning Danish children’s program, “Ultra Strips Down,” which is shown on Ultra, the on-demand children’s channel of the national broadcaster, DR. The topic today: skin and hair. Mr. Schow, 29, who helped develop the concept of the show after a producer came up with the idea, said the point was also to counter the daily bombardment of young people with images of perfect — unrealistic — bodies. The adults are not actors, but volunteers.

“Perhaps some people are like, ‘Oh, my God, they are combining nakedness and kids,’” Mr. Schow said. “But this has nothing to do with sex, it’s about seeing the body as natural, the way kids do.” Asked during the program on skin and hair why she decided to take part, one of the adults, Ule, 76, said she wanted to show the children that perfect bodies are rare and that what they see on social media is often misleading. “On Facebook or Instagram, many people are fashion models,” she said. “Us here, we have ordinary bodies. I hope you will understand that normal bodies look like this,” she told the audience, pointing at her naked self. “Ninety percent of the bodies you see on social media are perfect, but that is not how 90 percent of the world looks,” he said. “We have extra fat, or hair, or pimples. We want to show children from an early age that this is fine.”

A6: they do exist. Your bank doesn't offer them.
Just get a secured credit card. You can have a limit of anything you wish.
So if you want to limit your exposure to $500 you deposit $500 as the security, and then the credit card can be used up to the $500.

If it is branded with MasterCard or Visa, which it should be, then you are still protected from unauthorized purchases.

There are other ways, but that's the easiest way.

Do you own a gun?

The Allies did consider the assassination of Hitler but on reflection they decided he was such an incompetent we would be better with him directing the War. The German military knew this hence the plots to kill him. Von Stauffenberg was a good Nazi and German, and he wanted the War to be won. He knew they could never win with this useless ex Gefreiter in charge. God knows where Hollywood got their version of Stauffenberg, aka Tom Cruise. I think someone smoked something and just imagined it all; anyone who relies on movies for their history is plain ignorant.

B9; This doesn’t exist in this form; it is a collage of buildings from Cape Town.

A6 - anonymous is correct, but also

They do exist. I have bad credit and that's what I had. As my credit improves so did my limit, and they raise it as a "reward ". What's actually happening is by raising it they are making me less attractive to other competitors cards so i won't qualify for them. In essence they are sucking up all the "good credit" so I would have to use their cards.

Raising your credit is viewed as a positive by other credit establishments.

David said...

Yes but if they raise my limit then they are in effect using up my "good will" and for ing me to use their cards at the rate and terms I originally qualified for. Part of your credit parameters they look at is how much credit limit you have in ratio to your income and debt
