About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

PONDERABLES

He seems like a pretty smart guy.

^^A1^^

I am of the opinion that that explanation of our existence is just as valid as any other...all fabrications of the same mind that asked the questions to start with.

^^A2^^

$400K to learn how to think beyond the level of a high school senior.

^^A3^^

I love the one about honoring the bravery of their ancestors. EVERYBODY on Earth could say that about every army no matter how vile they were...think Nazis. Being brave does not make your cause just.

^^A4^^

How is it that some people forgive corporations for all their sins?

^^A5^^

"Your yard"?

^^A6^^

It seems that the older my wife gets the more she rejects my advice. Sometimes I think she would rather be bitten by a snake than not step over the log I told her not to step over. Therefore, I am reverting to reverse psychology. Now I say, "You must step over that log!" And therefore she survives to ignore me another day.

^^A7^^

Now that we have multiple examples of states legalizing weed with not only no ill consequences but with billions brought into the state coffers in taxes why is it that the other states just ignore the evidence?

^^A8^^

I don't agree with them but I can at least understand why some people might be attracted to join the Trump Cult...EXCEPT for religious people. Everything about the man reeks of sin yet they adore him. Can somebody explain that to me?

^^A9^^

Behold, the SMACS 0723 galaxy cluster as it appeared about about four and a half billion years ago. Freshly off the James Webb Space Telescope.

^^A10^^

How far back along the evolutionary tree do you have to go before it is bestiality to have sex with early hominids?

If you're over 40 it's no longer called masturbation. It's called a system check.

THE FRUITS OF TECHNOLOGY

Training led to remarkable behavioral changes for all participants.

^^B1^^

To exist, wildfires need fuel (plants), an ignition source (which here would have been lightning strikes), and enough oxygen to burn. That the fires were able to propagate and leave charcoal deposits suggests that Earth's atmospheric oxygen levels were at least 16 percent, the researchers say. Today, that level is at 21 percent, but it has varied dramatically during Earth's history. Based on their analysis, the team thinks the atmospheric oxygen levels 430 million years ago may have been 21 percent or even higher.

^^B2^^

Oh, I know the price will rise again and the small-time investor will crow of their success but you will never win in the long run. The game is fixed and you are not slated to win.

^^B3^^

^^B4^^

^^B5^^

^^B6^^

I have posted that previously and it still surprised me the second time around.

^^B7^^

My wife's dream jobs:

- forest witch

- rich vampire's wife

- haunted bookshop owner

What if humans are not the pinnacle of evolutionary progress but only an aberrant side branch of fish evolution?

NATURE'S MARVELS

I feel his pain.

^^C1^^

Lava Tubes

They think Mars has those. Think of the protection they could offer: dust storms, radiation, extreme temperatures, and probably others of which I am unaware. But I find it interesting that modern man reverting to cavemen.

BTW Did you notice how the floor naturally flatten?

^^C2^^

Erosion always depresses me.

When I was there I saw signs similar to this and laughed aloud.

^^C3^^

Caucasian Shephard was bred to fight bears.

But it only has one weapon - its mouth, but the bear has its mouth plus four clawed feet. How is that fair?

^^C4^^

A giant wasp breaks a worker bee in half, the bee hive doesn't approve

^^C5^^

Did you spot the Heart of Stone?

.

^^C6^^

This was too large to load but it depicts a guy sitting in the front of a vehicle looking to his left for a lion while the lion sneaks up on him from his right.

Let's load it again days later...

^^C7^^

For the sake of my sanity, I am going to assume those are scientists and not tourists.

^^C8^^

In honor of Father's Day...

PEOPLE DOING THINGS

I CAN'T OR WON'T DO

Don't blink...

I think that was a young woman!

^^D1^^

I know I've shown you that move before but after watching it again I think the flip shot could have been blocked if the other goalie had turned his men vertical.

^^D2^^

While running for office...

After being mayor a few years...

What has Chicago done to that woman?

^^D3^^

Activity outside the International Space Station to integrate the station with the STS-116 space shuttle by two astronauts. In the background is the Cook Strait, in New Zealand

I bet that looks good on a résumé.

^^D4^^

The oldest play in baseball...

Here he is looking at his first base coach like

"You had one fucking job".

^^D5^^

That kid looks just like my daughter did when we rode this innocent-looking ride at the fair.

It was all fun and games until he got cranked up then she looked at me and demanded, "Make them stop. NOW!"

^^D6^^

^^D7^^

That reminds me of the time my wife...oh, never mind, I swore I wouldn't tell anyone.

^^D8^^

*Why didn't his parents name him?

Must be from Alabama.

^^D9^^

As good as a reason as any other I guess.

^^D10^^

Do you think those were homemade or store-bought?

^^D11^^

^^D12^^

Sexy Accent...for Danny

^^D13^^

The plot of Mary Poppins is weird. Imagine being eight years old and you're absent father hires a woman off the street to sing to you about how fun it is to drink cough medicine.

I just found out that spinster used to refer to women 23–26 and that after 26 if you were not married you became a "Thornback".

How fucking great of a name is that?

OBJECTS OF INTEREST

I normally don't like deforming foliage but the pure scale of that makes it an exception.

^^E1^^

I ate that once...ONCE. It was sliced and looked and had the same texture as fried eggplant. It was much too greasy for even this son of the South.

^^E2^^

A foreign tourist ordered eggs Benedict and was flabbergasted when it came with fried chicken.

He asked, "America, are you okay?"

^^E3^^

^^E4^^

Think of how quickly we went from no wires to this...

^^E5^^

This is the very best thing on the internet this year.

^^E6^^

Ukrainian Coffee

^^E7^^

Now all residential buildings under construction in Ukraine will have to have bomb shelters. This follows from bill No. 7398, adopted today by the Verkhovna Rada.

I imagine they won't all be that fancy.

^^E8^^

These stairs only need one vertical handrail.

Absolutely wonderful!
^^E9^^

Puzzle time: looks like we need a purple circle. That's all I really have to say about that.

I remember when the Pope came to America and was lecturing then President G.W. Bush about the problems in our country.
If I had been President I would have looked the Pope square in the eye and said
"Clean up your own backyard before you lecture me about mine"

^^C8^^ I may be biased but I think scientists would be retreating when the rocks started falling on the slope in front of them.

^^E9^^ But the stairs don't go anywhere. Just a demo proof of concept?

I'm pro choice but anti bs. If this story proves true I'll be enraged, but I despise screaming wolf.

Secondly, why don't the Dems enact legislation codifying abortion?

If a schithole african country can do it why can't the US?

C8: Yeah, they are scientists and therefore, the lava can’t hurt them.
