Ones Of My Very Own

QUARTER BOX ALL BRASSED UP
As is my habit, I placed the new Quarter Holder where I could look at it multiple times daily, and the more I looked at it the more I felt it was lacking something. So I brassed it up.
---
The brass hinges had to be exposed because there were holes in the top of the box.
---
I had to have a way to lock the lid for transporting the box so I ordered brass hasps.
It already had a brass handle. Everything uses brass screws.
---
I found that the slightest jarring would dislodge some quarters even with the lid closed. I needed a way to hold them in place and I did this with some really cool brass studs which are actually the top half of heavy-duty snaps used with leather.
---
Here it is in Display Mode.
---
To secure the hasps I bought these marvelous little brass clips that look great.
---
Lastly, I added a brass plaque.
---
Decades ago a jewelry store went out of business and I bought their entire stock of brass plaques for a very reasonable price.
The reason the plaque on the box reads 25¢ instead of QUARTER HOLDER is that I didn't have a plaque long enough.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
One of the best aspects of being a mural painter is that nobody knows what they should cost. I gave some of my work away to worthy causes but trust me when I tell you, the more money you had, the more of it I wanted.

I support paying Congress $7.25 an hour because most of them live off the tips anyway.

Lightning
I have had a mustache and beard since 1967 and I have NEVER put my face near fire without the utmost caution. So, do all these women on fire on the internet just forget they have long hair or do they forget that hair is flammable?
That seems to happen relatively often.
I had a mural partner whom I loved like a son. He was an outdoorsy kind of guy who had an expensive mountain bike that he would take on trails and zoom down mountains like the guy in the clip above. Once he crashed and broke his collar bone and even in all that pain he not only had to hike back up the mountain, but he also had to carry his bike. But he and I had mural work to do, so his thrill-seeking mishap didn't just affect him, it also meant that I had to do all his work. I asked him if it was worth it and he replied, "Hell, no!"
Here's another view of that Russian daredevil.
He survived.

What am I missing here?
That looks like a great idea.
How do you not anticipate that the animal would do that?
I only posted that because of the clothes rack. I stop and collect every one of those I find on the side of the road. Have you priced dowels lately?
I find that fascinating.
I find this incredibly beautiful. It's similar to the round fields I posted a few days ago.
I watched a documentary about all the equipment we dumped in the ocean after Japan surrendered. We had to make room on the ships for the troops returning home.
My father-in-law had one of these and after his grandkids got through with it it looked just like this.
I spent over an hour untangling it only to discover that some of the strings had become stretched so the device was ruined.
Indus Valley of Pakistan
High up in Pakistan's Indus Valley are some of the most intricate and diverse petroglyphs on earth. These are the ancient Shatial glyphs on the Karakoram Highway in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Dating from the Stone Age to the birth of Islam, the glyphs cover boulders and boulders stretching for more than 100 kilometers. The writings and designs cover various languages, religions, and the symbolism of peoples dating back 10,000 years.
Project X
It was an unusually audacious, highly sensitive assignment: to build a massive skyscraper, capable of withstanding an atomic blast, in the middle of New York City. It would have no windows, 29 floors with three basement levels, and enough food to last 1,500 people for two weeks in the event of a catastrophe. The fortified skyscraper would safeguard powerful computers, cables, and switchboards. It would house one of the most important telecommunications hubs in the United States — the world’s largest center for processing long-distance phone calls, operated by the New York Telephone Company, a subsidiary of AT&T.

Reminds me of the story in which a woman hired an appliance repair guy to fix her dishwasher. He arrived and after only a couple minutes, gave the dishwasher a sharp thump with his hand in the upper left corner. The dishwasher immediately started working. Upon leaving, he gave the woman his invoice for $100.
"$100 for five minutes work?! Are you kidding?" She exclaimed.
The repairman asked for the invoice back, wrote on it, and handed it back to the woman. IT now read, "Thumping dishwasher, $1.00. Knowing where to thump, $99.00

What are you going to shoot them with Ralph?
It's virtually impossible to own a gun in China, you can't even buy airsoft toy guns. So it's not like a civilian is gonna pull out a gun and shoot the guys with water pistols. Not all countries are like the USA.

Something funny going on there. I found a higher quality video on facebook show both rear wheels rotating in the same direction, forward, and not touching each other (else both rotating in same direction would be impossible) forward. The top front wheel was rotating in the reverse direction and the bottom one in the forward direction and they were touching.

You must see the manhole covers in Japan, works of art and town region specific.

I worked in a build smaller but similar to that, no windows, very thick walls, no windows and a lift you could drive a small truck into. It was also a telecoms hub, most telecoms building don't have any windows. The lack of windows never bothered me.

If you remember, early on in the pandemic, the message that was being broadcast far and wide was if you get the jab you can not catch or transmit covid.
Dear B20 Anon,
What if an armed policeman witnessed it?

In that scenario you might get shot, they're generally not overeager to shoot though. In the US you'd probably end up as Swiss cheese, different environment you guys have.
C1: upper wheels are free wheeling. He has a drive shaft slanting down to a small hub on lower rear wheel. Not chain drive, shaft drive.
