About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

WEDNESDAY #2363

One Of My Very Own...

Breaking news...

Crank it up....

A crossword clue that ranks up there with the best:

It’s a little out of place
 S _ _ _
The only hint I will give you is that even after I had all the letters I had to figure out how it made sense.

Vance, a Trapper Boy, 15 years old. Has trapped for several years in a West Va. Coal mine. $.75 a day for 10 hours work.

All he does is to open and shut this door: most of the time he sits here idle, waiting for the cars to come. On account of the intense darkness in the mine, the hieroglyphics on the door were not visible until plate was developed. 1908

These are springing up like the old photo booths of years past...
You just step in to have yourself scanning, then it gives you a little figurine of your body....in living color.

Crossword: SHOW

This person made his own solar water heater.
It's just a black hose on the roof. I think the frame is to keep it from coming unwound when pressurized. He runs this hot water into his hot water heater so it hardly has to work at all.

One time I sneezed so hard that my arms got longer.

Here's that guy who grows furniture again...
He has several models working and I assume he perfecting his technique.
Here's one of his earlier chairs.
 The forms are growing chandileers.

But look at this masterpiece.
Here's another that I'm not sure is by the same guy.

SHOW, as in win, place and show. A little out of place...show.

Korean woman who owns a Korean restaurant sent my wife this today.
What kind of prick would do that.

I am fascinated by tools...
That is just another way to use a ramp, or inclined plane. But what floor me is that a lone person just invented it. Sure he built on the attempts of others, but to finally make it work belongs to one guy named Folger Crump.

That long sarcastic laugh you make before you say no.

 Mona Lisa my ass.

I made that up about Folger Crump.

Brilliant.

My wife is so weird. She starts every conversation with: “Were you even listening to me?”

Grits and Grillades, a braised beef dish on Bourbon’s brunch menu, uses Congaree Milling Co.’s hominy grits

That's my young friend, Lawrence's milling company.
He house sat for us during our latest roadtrip. Love the kid like a son.

The caption read: Googled worst idea ever

I didn't believe him. Looked it up and he nailed it.

Let's just admit that some people will not survive the zombies...

Clearest Photo Ever Of Ceres' Bright Spots Still Doesn't Answer Mystery.

Current theories to explain the spots include ice -- potentially exposed by the impact of another celestial object, or perhaps spewed out by some sort of icy volcano or geyser -- or salt deposits.
Put me down for impact revealing either subterranean ice or just a more reflective layer, like those huge drawings on Earth.

Ya'll remember this?
I thought it was the greatest tool known to mankind.

I messed around with an image of my latest money sculpture. I manipulated light and dark and contrast and ended up the the image on the left.
Needless to say, I saw the resemblance immediately. It helps if you squint.

You don’t need an excuse for showing up sad to work.

That so many people died in WWII doesn't surprise me.
That so many people survived surprises me.
So, here are the stats on people behaving badly during war.
And to think that all that bombing started with this...
But the problem, of course, was that if you flew too high you couldn't hit shit on the ground, and if you flew low these guys could shoot you with their rifles.
Speaking of bombs...

It’s easier to get free wifi than free water and people act like nothing is wrong with the world.

It’s a good day to have a good day.

In 2013, archaeologists working in France, uncovered something very strange. The researchers discovered the tomb and skull of an aristocrat, who died some 1,600 years ago. Her skull was heavily deformed, with the front flattened, and the rear rising into a cone shape.

But that's not the surprising part. What is extremely curious is that this exact same thing happened all over the world in cultures that had no contact.

Gravity is such a downer.

One of my wife's turds stood straight up in the commode.
She was so proud of it she took it out to the sidewalk and shared it with the neighborhood.

I've put two lengthy gifs toward the end so that maybe they behave.
This is Miss New Zealand.
 She is a competitive eater.
There's a joke in there somewhere.

As a man I found this very satisfying.
I've been having a hell of a time with the gifs I post. I have no idea how to make them look like they did on the site I stole them from.

My wife didn’t get her beach body in time for summer. That makes 22 years in a row.

The Archimedes screw was invented by Folger Crump? I think you slip this stuff in to see if anyone's actually reading your blog.
