About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

KEY PACKET TUTORIAL

I know you have all seen this by now...

Guys topple beloved Pillar Rock on Oregon coast. I would really like to know what mental processes led to them thinking that was a good idea.

However, the TV news found dozens of images of people standing upon that very rock.
If it toppled that easily, one would think standing atop it was extraordinarily foolish.

This assisted living facility in Ohio has fiber optic ceilings that go from day to night and the outside of every room resembles a house.

There's a golf course and movie theater and "memory rooms" where each room resembles the 30's, 40's, and 50's, including furniture and music from the given time period.

Imagine the battles he has seen.

PEOPLE JUST FUCKING WITH OTHER PEOPLE

Many, many people do innocent things to fuck with other people...

But the internet is full of people giving very bad advice for...what? Fun?

Most stuff is just fun and does no harm.

Then there is this type of insulting crap.

The caption read: "China Reveals That a Massive Alien Outpost and Mining Facility is Operating on the Moon."
What is the payoff for that? Two teenage boys giggling in their parents' basement?

"Doctor, it burns when I pee."

Now, that is either showing off the methane in well water near a fracking site, or someone is squirting lighter fluid in the stream of water.
Do they frack in Japan?

The future of warfare.

This is all I can think about when I see those young adventurers sitting hanging their legs from a huge rock fourteen or fifteen miles in the air...

It's not a matter of if it is going to fall; but when.

There are countless examples, but we STILL go to the edge to look over.

Not me. I just ask for pictures if anything exciting happens.

I'll give you a minute to think about it.

ART

And here's an arty photo you need to see again...

The veins in the leaf, the antlers and the trees with identical patterns. Makes my dick hard.

Fisherman found 75 pound pearl 10 years ago, just learned its valuable.

Fisherman from the Philippines pulled up his anchor and found it was attached to a giant clam. Inside the clam was a massive pearl. He brought it home and kept it under his bed for good luck. Recently his shack burned down and he showed the pearl to a tourist officer, who encouraged him to get it appraised. Early estimates put its value at $100 million.

How stupid do you have to be not to see the worth in such a thing?

World’s First Head Transplant Set For September

5 years after Texas GOP's attack on women's reproductive health, TX leads developed world in maternal mortality.

Remember when Texas governor Rick Perry and the GOP state government led an unprecedented assault on women's reproductive health in the name of preventing abortions, using dirty tricks to pass an unconstitutional law that led to a boom in unsafe home abortions and a black market for day-after pills, while ending Planned Parenthood's vital cancer-screening program, before defunding Planned Parenthood altogether?

Chicago reporter's three grim years of covering overnight crime.

What happens to a journalist assigned to cover Chicago's overnight violent crime? Chicago Tribune reporter Peter Nickeas describes in harrowing detail how three years of covering endless violence and misery changed him.
Here's the link:
http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/September-2016/Peter-Nickeas/

I posted that because one of my oldest friends covered overnight crime for the Chicago Tribune many years ago.
Back then they would get a report of a murder on the police scanner and went to the station to check it out. There were code words and gestures to indicate if the victim and perp were black. They never reported black on black crime because even back then it happened so frequently that it just wasn't news. And maybe, just maybe, black people didn't buy their newspaper.
