One Of My Very Own...
OFFENBACH: ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD - OVERTURE
Chris Christie, living up to all of the "fat piece of shit" jokes he's been called his whole life.

Then there's this guy...
He never thought about it.

Mortality is something we all have to be reminded of in scary doses.
THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW YESTERDAY

Percentage of Jewish population by European country murdered during the Holocaust.

A Spanish bullfighter has died after he was gored during a festival in France.
France?! I would have thought the sensitive French would have banned that practice centuries ago.

This has many advantages over the traditional sling shot.
If there were an Asshole Championship I would place respectfully in my weight division.
THINGS I KNOW AND YOU MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW
To maintain readiness in countries where we have military bases, they regularly hold large scale joint maneuvers with the host country.
I was amazed that if they so much as run over a chicken and you have to pay for all the eggs it could lay in it's expected life time. A cow the same for milk. Broken fence repaired better than it was, etc. And this while we kept the Russian Bear from their door...again.

Many beaches have a real problem with erosion.
One of the best defenses is the dune grasses, which keeps growing as the dunes rise. Some of those have roots many feet down into the dune which helps hold the whole thing together.
To hasten dune growth they use dune fences.
All it does is to slow down the sand laden wind causing the sand to be deposited on a new dune. These work amazingly fast.

I agree with that, but there is more. They will also learn how to make necessary shortcuts.

One young member of my mural crew is having a show in NYC. This is the painting on the poster advertising the event.
Quirky ain't it.

Memory is a strange thing. It is not bound by time or chronological order. It seems to have a life of its own. Hours become weeks. Weeks become...a life time. And the bad gets precedence over the good. Bummer.
ODD BEHAVIORS
The carrot and the horse.
I wonder how long it will take it to deduce he will never reach it and give up?

On a related note, this is the Cologne Cathedral.
It's foundation used about as many block below the ground as the cathedral used above the ground.

HUMAN ENDEAVORS
I don't feel so stupid with my spelling errors when I see the same mistakes in movie captions.
I think one of the sign of a great actor is that he makes it look effortless.

Is that even legal?

I regret never learning how to sail.
Using the power of the plant to explore that same planet.

Anybody know what that is in the middle.

How did we let it go from this...

Kind of reminds me of the Roman thumbs up or down live or die signal.
Do you think that kid could ever be normal?

I used to think I could control ducks with my mind, but it turns out ducks and I just have very similar ideas about what things ducks should do.

Soldiers should want peace more than anyone.
But soldiers fight for many different reasons.
Some volunteer to prove they are a man. Other's to uphold a family tradition. And I guess some want to be a hero. I blame a society that calls all military members heroes.

Hi again! The blog's still great.
wrt that image of splashing: I'd guess manatees. I don't know of anything else large enough that'd also be in so close a gathering.
Also, Robert Duvall is a great actor. I especially like his performance in the Twilight Zone episode he was in, Miniature. Speaking of which, Rod Serling was a very interesting guy, and an eloquent son of a gun.
"I blame a society that calls all military members heroes." I could not agree more...one stupid war after another. They like to use the word "freedom" to justify their wars. I feel sorry for the naive.
