About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

PONDERABLES

So, let's keep score like it's a Pandemic Olympics.
And...
Well, we Americans can kiss that gold medal goodbye.
And what's really sad is that millions of Americans are PROUD of it.
^^A1^^

Well, look what I found...

Condom commercials shouldn’t make sex look fun, they should make parenting look terrible.

PEOPLE DOING THINGS I CAN'T OR WON'T DO

2000: Actor Damian Lewis standing at the same spot where the real Major Richard "Dick" Winters stood at Schoonderlogt, the Netherlands, in 1944.

1942: A member of the 25th Battalion of the London Home Guard gives a camouflage demonstration using strips of old wallpaper. Useful advice for fighting in bombed-out towns and villages.

A very beautiful bartender was hired to sail to the Bahamas. On the boat were three rich old men and three young mostly naked young women. No hanky panky - the women were there too (and I quote) to decorate the boat.
^^B3^^

1968: James Earl Jones sparring with Muhammad Ali on the set of The Great White Hope at 20th Century Fox Studios, Los Angeles. Photo by Lawrence Schiller.

^^B4^^

March 1937: A miner and his family have dinner at home in Scott's Run, West Virginia. The alternate title for this is "Guess Who Just Shit Their Pants?".

Wallpapered with newspaper.
^^B5^^

There are many stories like that. I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't piss off a criminal who skulks around at night.

What happens in the jungle stays in the jungle.
^^B8^^

Can I assume they have some kind of space-age stick'em on the bottom of their shoes?
^^B9^^

If you would like to hear her...

Not only did she do the exact same thing again, but she also wore the same dress...
That looks just like my wife's come-hither look.
^^B10^^

A very rare butterfly...
But...
Is she naked? I think she is naked!
^^B11^^

^^B12^^

That kid is good!

Thank you for bringing your Bluetooth speaker to the beach, I was concerned the ocean would be too soothing.

That took me far longer than it should have.

What every boy needs...
^^C2^^

WTF?
^^C3^^

^^C4^^

^^C5^^

Dog notwithstanding, that looks like a lot of fun.
^^C6^^

A house facade falls toward Buster Keaton in a scene from Steamboat Bill Jr.

And it grazed his arm.
^^C7^^

I saw this on South Park.
Reminded me of my painting...

^^C8^^

I ran across a site full of lucky people...
And this one I did not understand for a long time.
^^C9^^

Some people think it will sell for much more than the asking price.
^^C10^^

If you like street vendors as much as I do you really need to watch this guy at work.
^^C11^^

Interesting image but I posted it to ask a question. Why is the command center on the back of the boat instead of the front where they could see what's happening? It would be like piloting a plane from the tail.

Egress Slidewire Baskets

At Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the seven slidewire baskets travel down to the ground for the final time after being released by technicians from the 195-foot level. The system of seven slidewire baskets at launch pads A and B provided an escape route for astronauts and personnel inside the orbiter or on the orbiter access arm. The baskets are suspended from slidewires that extend from the pad's Fixed Service Structure to a landing zone 1,200 feet to the west. Each basket could hold up to three people. A braking system catch net and drag chain slowed and then halted the baskets sliding down the wire at approximately 55 miles per hour in about half a minute.

^^C13^^

This "Illusory Red" color optical illusion, tweeted by experimental psychologist Akiyoshi Kitaoka shows two flags of his school, Ritsumeikan University of Kyoto, Japan. Overlaid on top of the image are bars of solid cyan, but your brain can still interpret the red "R" in the white flag on the left and the red background of the flag on the right. But are you SURE those are red colors? Zoom in (or let me do it for you below) and you'll see that there's not a single red pixel in the "Illusory red" color optical illusion image.

Otters have pockets

Scientists added jellyfish genes to carp DNA and these fish glow under blacklight...or so I'm told.

Every time I see one of those baby with adult dogs photos, all I can think about is that kid having to watch each of his companions die of old age before his tenth birthday. I waited until my kids were at least 7 years old before we got our puppy.

I used to think otters were delightful until I learned they will literally rape baby seals to death. Look it up.

puzzle time: Just look for the natural gaps and draw lines. 3 lines make an "A" rotated such that the pointy end is at 11 o'clock. The last line bisects the top part of the A...goes up and to the right, starting from the 9 o'clock position and ending around the 1 o'clock position.

A1- number 1 in Obesity is a key factor. Promoting a healthy body is never the topic in news. I'm vaccinated and I try to eat healthy. Take your vitamins a-z! Get your blood pumping with walks in the sunshine! You can still get infected if you're unhealthy and vaccinated.

Dear Dr., Please tell me you know the difference between getting infected and dying from that infection.

Nope, please enlighten me señor Ralph
