About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

GET LEARNT

From my earliest foray into formal art training at the university, I was plagued with a nagging question.

Just like every other artist, I assume, I labored over when I transitioned from "art student" to "artist".

I deduced that I was officially an artist when I got paid for my labors. Otherwise, I was but a hobbyist.

^^A1^^

You can 3D print one of those...or so I'm told.
^^A2^^

The Man Who Saved The World
There ought to be statues of this man all over the world.

On this day in 1983, the Soviet Lieutenant Colonel Stanislav Petrov single-handedly averted a worldwide nuclear war when he chose to believe his intuition instead of the computer screen even when it indicated that the U.S. had launched a nuclear missile attack against the Soviet Union.

^^A3^^

He has obviously never tried to teach six-year-olds anything.
^^A4^^

In this day and age, why would they think that would work - and further, haven't we gotten over thinking porn was evil?

^^A5^^

Many Republicans seem to have forgotten their oath: Preserve, Protect, and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

You start by convincing your followers that all news is fake and only you will tell them the truth. After that, you can just state that the election was stolen and with no evidence whatsoever your followers believe you.

And...

^^A7^^

I've often thought about having a Folio Olio post to be published after I'm dead. I don't know what I would say other than to thank you guys for allowing me to share your day. And this:
^^A8^^

As a person who used to write, I think about this often...
And...
And...

And...

Some person just sat down at a typewriter and wrote each of those lines. He wasn't in costume or on a set or sharing his space with other people. He just sat there and typed it out.

By the way, my intro used to say I was a writer but like being an artist I don't think I can be a writer until I've been paid. So I changed it to "and I write."

^^A9^^

Did you notice the size of the moving crane off to the side?

THAT WHICH IS RARELY WITNESSED

^^B2^^

Reminds me of these lunatics...

The day America almost changed forever.

^^B3^^

^^B4^^

A fun look at the differences in American politicians...

^^B5^^

I found my smile - cheers.

I thought they did a good job.
^^B6^^

^^B7^^

^^B8^^

Would a roof rise like that?

^^B9^^

The fun part of self-defense...

^^B10^^

That looks dangerous as shit.
^^B11^^

"This is my stick. There are many like it but this one is mine."

And the real showoff...

^^B12^^

Do you think they were just fucking with the guy? Or is he fucking with us?
^^B13^^

Awesome digital Animation...

^^B16^^

Until I saw the harnesses, I was trying to figure out how the fuck they were floating a refrigerator.

^^B17^^

^^B18^^

"Put your phone away and finish servicing the machine, Ralph. And hurry up about it."

- My wife probably

^^B19^^

It took me several viewings before I could follow the mantis correctly.

AND AWRY WE GO

^^C1^^

It was stated that the lightning hit the football.

^^C2^^

The dog is the smartest one in the family.

^^C3^^

Might I suggest holding off on those bong hits until after work?

^^C4^^

An oldie but it's worth watching again just to hear the guy's laughter.
^^C5^^

For every action...

^^C6^^

Chaotic good vs. Chaotic evil

^^C7^^

I never knew that masts were that strong.

^^C8^^

A comment wondered why there was a camera on these stairs. I think these clips answer that question.

Why is there a camera on those stairs? For our fucking amusement!

^^C9^^

His head bounced - BOUNCED! - off that manhole cover.

^^C10^^

And the demonstration to prove it...

Remember the Treasure Chest I made for my grandson?
Well, I've spent a lot of time amassing items I would rather he instead of someone else throw away.
I numbered each item...
And each item got its own numbered page in a notebook I made.
Here's a sampling...
