About Me

My photo
I'm an artist, educator, militant anti-theist , and I write. I gamble on just about anything. And I like beer...but I love my wife. This blog contains observations from a funny old man who gets pissed off every once in a while.

PONDERABLES

Suffer from cringe memories? Try this: try to remember a person who completely embarrassed themselves in front of you. In other words, try to recall one of THEIR cringe memories. I couldn't remember even one. The point is, the memories that make you cringe have long been forgotten by the witnesses. That realization worked wonders for me.

The Little Mermaid we all want to see...

She will make your chest explode.

^^A3^^

A tradition in Parma, Italy. La cena dei Mille (The dinner of the thousand)

Dinner is hosted in the city center, and it offers this unique experience of sharing a meal at a table with 1000 guests.

An event is a charity event, and guests pay a fee for a fine dinner.

*Do you think they cart the food in on trucks or cook onsite?

^^A4^^

I made it a rule never to drink anything while in the presence of students. I never broke that rule...although I wanted to a couple of times during night events.

^^A5^^

^^A6^^

This is the bill for back surgery for a person with health insurance.

Years ago I posted a film that explained how the numbers are completely fabricated with no basis in reality.

^^A7^^

Iranian women burning the Hijab in the biggest Anti-Regime protest since 2019.

"We will die, we will die, we will retake Iran"

- Anti Regime Protests - City of Rasht

I wish them nothing but the very best.

And in my humble opinion, this is the greatest symbol that movement could have. It speaks with a loud voice.

^^A8^^

I knew a guy that fell through the ceiling and landed spread eagle on his ladder. But in the X-rays, they found a serious heart problem that required immediate surgery. So his unlucky moment turned out to be very fortunate indeed.

^^A9^^

^^A10^^

When I made tacos I always put the cheese directly on top of the hot meat so it melts and can't fall out.

^^A11^^

That looks like that college professor's house in my neighborhood. When it was sold the new owners started hauling the shelving out to the street. I offered to help and ended up with enough shelving to cover every wall in my garage/storage area.

^^A12^^

Every generation strived to leave a country that was better for their children than it was for them...except this one. Too many young people today can't afford college, a house, and even rent without roommates even though they work full-time. Many are on the verge of just giving up and I have nothing but sympathy for them. But I've been giving student loan debt a lot of thought. I have asked for help from college students, college professors, and my banker. Everybody agrees that today's college students are fucked compared to other generations but everybody is also uneasy about forgiving anyone's loan with other people's tax dollars. After careful consideration, my position has changed.  I am no longer in favor of the federal government paying off the loans. I am in favor of reforming the way we educate our future innovators and leaders.

1. Restructure ALL the present loans to a less punitive interest that results in young people making payments for ten years and then owing more money than they did at the beginning. I would be in favor of using federal funds and cutting the banks out completely and charging no interest if the borrower makes timely payments.

2. Develop more ways to have the loan forgiven such as military service, teaching in needy schools, etc.

3. Revamp who we allow in college. Perhaps have mandatory basic classes like English composition, basic math, and history that must be passed at a local school like a tech school before a student can qualify for a loan. The dropout rate is horrendous and must be addressed.

4. Clamp down on scam for-profit colleges like Trump U with not only fines but jail time for the parasites.

---

But please shut the fuck up about the country needing more mechanics and barbers and shit. If we are going to keep our leadership role in the world we will need more scientists, engineers, researchers, and, yes, composers and artists. Sure, knowing how to keep an old truck on the road is great, but designing a new hyper-efficient motor could change the world.

Once when I was little, I claimed it was a teacher's work day so I wouldn't have to go to school, but my mom was no idiot so she didn't believe me. But when we go to the school, we found out it was a teacher's work day and that made me think I had superpowers. So I immediately started trying to kill classmates I didn't like with my mind to confirm my theory.

The amount of times my phone has autocorrected "alright" to "Aleutian" is causing me to rethink my stance on the importance of the Aleutian Islands.

Those must be some good fries!

Live to fight another day.

But I really thought the guy in white was going to knock that fucker out.

UA forces captured a Russian T-90M tank. It is the most advanced tank they have in service. They'll probably sell/trade it to the US/NATO in exchange for other tanks/combat vehicles.

A camouflage material used by Russia as thermal insulation and protection against radar signals.

"The T-90M captured in Ukraine is more special and rare than at first glance. It features a brand new gunner's sight named "PNM-T" made using only domestic components. Very Few have it"

The Ukrainian military designed their own rifle, longer than a human. Snipex Alligators are absolute units.

Even a girl can shoot it.

MREs final destination

In most wars, dysentery kills more people than bullets. For that reason, it frequently happens that soldiers cut the seat out of their pants so they can shit without removing them.

That seems to be too much-exposed blade.

Most bandsaws have an adjustable guide that can be raised and lowered as needed (in red below).

Sea Salt - or so I'm told

"Fun" fact: Sea salt can no longer be obtained without microplastics. These particles are now everywhere in seawater.
